The People In The Fog is a moniker of DJ Sodeyama. He has been a stalwart of the Tokyo underground for nearly three decades, cutting his teeth in the 90's and retaining a key presence at the forefront of Japan's house music scene.

Over the years he has released a sprawling array of music under a few monikers on the likes of Zenit, Rekids, Quartz and трип. However most recently he has been operating under the guise of The People In The Fog which has afforded him the chance to dig deeper into his sound channeling elements of funk, downtempo and the dubbier undertones of house.

He has released this material on Japanese record label Sound Of Vast and for dj's in the know those records have become a 'buy on sight' scenario.

This mix showcases versatility and class. Tight blends, excellent, deep thoughtful selections.

The People In The Fog: The Altered Currents Ransom Note Mix

"C'est Ma Vie" is the debut release from Cartagena, Colombia-originated and Toronto, Canada-based Musa Paradise. This is the first single off of the upcoming album for the band, and is a genre-blurring fusion of Afro-Latin soul, deep house, and nostalgic electronic textures.

Built on a foundation of vintage drum machines, 909 hi-hat patterns, and house-inspired grooves, “C’est Ma Vie” pulses with an understated, late-night energy. Layers of analog synths, hypnotic guitars, and live Afro-Cuban percussion bring a raw, organic dimension to the production, while subtle Afro-Colombian elements — including the maracón and tamboras of the chalupa rhythm — enrich the beat with ancestral depth. French vocals float above the arrangement, adding a poetic, intimate presence. Both lush and shadowy, "C’est Ma Vie" evokes a tropical melancholy — a reflective dance between the past and present, memory and movement.

Musa Paradise was formed in 2018 by longtime friends and musical collaborators, Jimmy Kiddo and Cesar Caballero. Inspired by Cartagena’s tropical vibe, Jimmy and Cesar experimented with an array of afro-Colombian and afro-Caribbean sounds. With fusions of Latin, rock, pop and electronic influences; all of these explorations have helped define their personal identities and have become the bedrock for Musa Paradise’s musical and cultural direction.

Phantasy’s long-running mix series continues apace with a contribution from a key figure in London’s electronic and alternative underground, Casper Clark. Perhaps best known under his former Volte-Face alias, this wide-ranging hour finds Clark reigniting his fundamentally eclectic sensibility, seamlessly blending records from Black Merlin, Idjut Boys and The Parallax Corporation, spanning twenty-five years of music at the authentic margins.

“I started DJing nearly 20 years ago, at least partially inspired by the way Erol used to play at Trash and later Bugged Out and beyond. I was lucky enough to book him over the years at our Adventures In The Beetroot Field parties as well as Field Day and even the Lock Tavern, which I used to programme back then. As I drifted more towards exploring techno under my Volte-Face moniker, our paths diverged somewhat, and a few years went by when I didn't bump into him or see him play all that often. So this mix feels like a homecoming of sorts, and an expression of a rekindled musical freedom and a cherished friendship. Valesuchi is a producer who we have kept a close eye on for a while now – the Chilean artist has released some stellar leftfield house and techno, drawing upon Latin influences and channeling a proper DIY sensibility.

We are talking rough drums, dusty pads, grungey acid and everything in between.

Based in Rio De Janeiro we felt now would be a fitting time to feature her in our series after she reached out and sent us her new album – which is as riotous and intriguing as they come. A proper journey through weird soundscapes and analogue dreams.

This mix showcases her versatility as a DJ, a proper masterclass in movement between style, genre and pace. All with a no holds barred undercurrent which keeps things very fresh and very interesting.

Texas-born, Brooklyn-based producer and DJ, fleet.dreams is crafting raw, immersive club music that resists easy classification. "It’s an honour to be involved. So many of my biggest production influences have been on this mix in the past so yeah great to be involved. The energy. Throughout this mix I wanted to keep things deep, rolling and groovy. I get things started with a tonne of my fav 90’s and 2000’s prog and then move into some newer sounds toward the end. Included of course my own track ‘Dream Realm’. Which dropped on Ryugu Records on the 18th of July. This mix i’d say is perfect to stick on at the afters or getting yourself ready for the night ahead. The Sustain-Release co-founder steps up to the Phonica mix just ahead of the acclaimed festival’s 11th year. 
New York has an iconic history when it comes to club music, and over the years has seen many great names emerge from its underground scene. In modern times, Aurora Halal is undoubtedly one of those names. 
Aurora has become a staple at forward-thinking institutions like Berghain, De School, and her home base, Nowadays, where she holds a residency. Alongside her international touring, she’s carved out her own vital space through the long-running Mutual Dreaming parties and Sustain-Release, the DIY-rooted festival she co-founded, which continues to push boundaries as it enters its second decade.
Her Phonica mix offers a vivid snapshot of her deep, intuitive approach to DJing—captured live at Mansions, a cozy NYC wine bar turned house party haven. Known for her genre-fluid sets that blend hypnotic techno, house, acid and experimental textures this is the perfect calling card to showcase why she can hold it down with a range of greats like DJ Nobu, Vladimir Ivkovic and more.
We had a chat about the mix with Aurora as well as touching off Sustain and some of her favorite moments at the festival.

This week's mix is by @bian_ca, a DJ based in Rio De Janeiro, a dedicated vinyl collector and resident at Nervosa, one of Rio’s key underground parties! His sets weave the sweat spot between techno and house, and he keeps it timeless and unexpected. 

The 100-minute mix is a journey where the tension stays exactly where it's supposed to be, shifting in genres and moods, and guides you to a grand finale, leaving you mesmerized.

‘’This selection is very special to me, as many of these tracks have been with me for a long time. It includes music from close friends I greatly admire, like Muta’s Poem by Capetini and Black Jesus by Vaskular (feat. Valesuchi). However, the track I’d like to highlight is In Sara, Mencken, Christ and Beethoven There Were Men and Women by Robert Ashley. I still remember hearing it for the first time, and it’s hard to believe it was produced in the ’70s. This was the first time I’ve had the chance to play it in a set, and I fall in love with it all over again every time.’’
