This tenth episode of our mix series is an assertive collection of tunes from renowned references and reliable outsiders, seamlessly stitched up by a steadfast figure of Berlin’s contemporary techno scene.

In her typical reckless manners, @IreenAmnes takes us from the dark ambient textures of one of her own tracks to the glacial tension of Alessandro Cortini’s romantic compositions, passing by the timeless beauty of Autechre’s debut and Andy Stott’s haunted songs.  

Boldly featuring one of the most disputed Burial tracks as well as a detour through the gleeful oddness of Belgian new wave band Polyphonic Size, this mix showcases the unpredictable and daring style of its author, thus perfectly matching and enriching the project behind Futurepast.

Grace Schella ist als DJ/live act/Kuratorin in der freien Kultur- und Musikszene aktiv. Sie ist eine der wenigen DJs, die als bevorzugtes Medium noch Vinyl spielt. Ihre DJ Sets fließen durch Genres von Electro, Techno, IDM bis hin zu House, Funk und Jazz.
Mit ihrem neu gegründeten Label Electropia Records setzt sie auf industriellen Electro, abstrakten Techno und integriert ebenso experimentelles Sounddesign. Ihre Ausbildung an der SAE Wien, 2014 legte den technischen Grundstein für ihre Labelarbeit und Produktionen.
Mit der Organisation der aktuellen, transmedialen A/V Serie „Electropia – Parallel Systems“ schafft sie Räume für elektronische Liveperformances sowie interkulturellen Austausch internationaler und lokaler KünstlerInnen. Dabei stützt sie ihr Konzept auf Theorien aus den Bereichen Elektromagnetismus, Quantenmechanik und der Resonanzlehre.
Grace gibt ihr Wissen gerne an Frauen weiter, die ebenfalls an elektronischer Musikkultur interessiert sind. In den DJ Workshops bei LAMES St. Pölten, school 1050 konnte sie junge Menschen ermutigen, sich mit der DJ Kultur auseinander zu setzen.
Sie unterstützt das von Electric Indigo gegründete grassroot network female:pressure und co-gestaltet im Rahmen der IG Club Kultur immer wieder auf orange 94.0 ausgestrahlte Radiosendungen.

Cologne-based @that-night-1 is finally back on Noorden with his new EP »Implause«. 

6 tracks between a chillaxed after-hour in the zen garden of Lawrence Lek and riding a white 1983 Ford Escort Cabrio on serpentine roads. Surrounded by a warm breeze, the endless sea, and a feeling that something bad is about to happen. Heavily inspired by Twin Peaks, Neue Helvetica, and B-Movie-Soundtracks.

For the limited 10-inch-vinyl, we teamed up with Bonn-based artist Arno Beck, who did the beautiful artwork and the Risograph-printing. The edition of 30 is numbered and signed by the artist.

The label Brokntoys has been a symbol of phenomenal electro records since 2013. Established by Anwar Dawas and Kristopher Hall, the initiative is now run solely by Anwar, continuing to deliver an array of cutting-edge music that rises far above the ordinary club electro realm. The sound of Brokntoys – enchanting and hard-hitting through tight analog rhythms and emotive compositions – has captivated the international scene; the label counts its 52nd catalogue number as of 2020. Label runner, DJ, radio show host and collector Anwar breaks it all down.

Kim Cosmik started as a DJ for free party soundsystems Spiral Tribe and Bedlam and DJs at festivals and clubs all over the U.K and Europe. She was also one of the first women to play at the ledgendary Knowledge club in London.

In 1993 Kim Cosmik formed her own label, Void Records with fellow band member Chantelle Platter in partnership with Hotmix / Bunker records in Holland where they released two singles then and were later signed to Matador / EMI releasing a further 3 singles.  

Kim Cosmik and Chantelle also created aliases, DJ Siren and Blaze, playing and releasing drum and bass with Spectrum Audio / Alphamagic and also had a track remixed by Dylan (Therapy Records). 

Kim Cosmik has played with many amazing artists such as Lory D, Leo Anibaldi, Colin Dale, Serge Clone, Aleksi Perala, Andy Turner, B12, Radioactiveman, Jumping Jack Frost, Mickey Finn, Liberator, Dave The Drummer, Syrte and many more. She has has recently played at clubs such as Fold, Electroweks, The Glove That Fits and Iklecktic in London as well as About Blank in Berlin, Shambala Festival and many regular events in Hastings where she lives. 

Kim Cosmik is currently a resident at Threads Radio, Aaja Radio and Techno Club Net online as well as her own event, Hybrid which she launched in 2019. 

Kim Cosmik releases music through her label, Cybersoul on Bandcamp as well as with a variety of labels such as Science Cult, 2020 Vision Recordings, Diffuse Reality, Touched Music, Section 27, Bass Agenda, Zwaartekracht and many more including a new album about to be released on vinyl by Reposition Records. Look out for many more events and releases in 2023!
