This week we welcome DJ, producer and radio host Paula Tape to our mix series with a 70 minute tour through the sounds and selections that are quickly building her a well-deserved reputation as one of the most exciting talents in the scene. A purveyor of eclectic selections, expect stomping beats and playful percussive riffs, synth-heavy rhythms and much more. 

Paula's energetic sound is mirrored across her own productions (with releases on Rhythm Section, Permanent Vacation, Planet Trip Records and more), as well as her radio shows on Worldwide FM and Milan's Radio Raheem and we're excited to be welcoming her to Dimensions this summer with a debut appearance for our 10th anniversary celebrations.

Love International and Test Pressing commemorate yet another cracking festival with the latest instalment in their collaborative compilation series for their LIXTP label. For The Sound Of Love International #006 they’ve chosen Jay Donaldson aka Palms Trax as their selector. 

The Berlin-based Brit launched his career in 2013 with releases on various labels which led to headline slots and globetrotting gigs from South America to Australia. He’s a regular at Love International, having spun at the first one in 2015, playing at Barbarella’s for an RA event.

The scope of this new record reflects the eclecticism of Donaldson’s DJ sets and his long-running ‘Cooking With Palms Trax’ NTS radio show and parties. Comprising of cuts collected on his worldwide trips, it’s a magical mind-blowing selection. Jumping between generations and genres, yet all coming together as a wonderful whole. As document it definitely demonstrates the joys of real record shops and physical digging.

Coolrnch (Cool Ranch) is a Seoul-based DJ and record collector. He collects and plays records from various countries and genres that have bright energy. His music focuses mainly on Classic disco, Italo disco, House, Synth-pop, Soul and Balearic.
He curates sets that make everyone on the dancefloor feel comfortable and have fun, allowing people to be themselves and dance freely.
He hosts a bi-monthly radio show, Cool Ranch Discos, on Visla FM, a Seoul-based underground radio station. As a member of the party labels WorkHardPartyHarder and Cha Cha Mambo, he regularly organizes events and plays at various venues across the city, establishing himself as one of the young DJs keeping the Seoul disco scene alive.

It is clear that the environment fostered by this platform functions around a radical notion of sharing that involves many layers of our beings, from what we are and do to what we have and want. After all, this is how we link up with people hailing from every corner of the planet, regardless of how far away we are from each other, artists and listeners alike. More than a meeting place, this is a mingling space for anyone willing to partake in the principle that guides this collective endeavour, the same that allows us to share a lot more than a few seasonal commonalities with our current guest. Thus, beyond the fact that we experience similar weather cycles at the same time of the year, we found plenty of connective elements with the musicality of this gifted Aussie selector that prompted us to invite her to add some of it to our ever expanding mosaic of mixes and what Evie brought to the collection is nothing short of everything wonderful we already expected. What we have here is an adventurous admixture of grooves and textures that packs enough energy to traverse the globe back and forth.
