Welcome back to Utopiacast #10, where we journey through the diverse realms of global soundscapes. This time, we are thrilled to reconnect with a familiar face who rocked our dance floor at last year's Dream of Utopia festival - the multifaceted artist, DJ, and BRUS founder, Sigvard Dackevall from Stockholm, Sweden.

With an uncanny ability to seamlessly blend genres and moods, Sigvard's music spans from the groovy house to seductive dark disco and pulsating bass-heavy techno. A former resident of Berlin, he has successfully brought a taste of its cultural richness back to his home city, evidenced through his independent radio work and transformative party organization with BRUS.

Over the past year, Sigvard's remarkable talent has seen him sharing stages with renowned artists at international festivals. His unforgettable performances have left imprints from the sun-drenched beaches of Turkey's Mediterranean coast to the lofty heights of the Swiss Alps. Stay Golden is a Bali-based producer of mysterious music journeys, magician in hypnotic sounds.

His musical signature is defined by many interests and his intergalactic travels through time and space, his sets are novels in electronic, melodic downtempo, organic and afro house music.

He creates a sound that is both mesmerising and culturally diverse in a bit-trippy storytelling way.
It features both relax and groovy beats, tribal textures, and hypnotic sacred rhythms, often incorporating acoustic and traditional instruments from around the world.

Stay Golden is a co-founder of TOTEM Society festival which is caption the curation of dreams, the embrace of freedom, and gratitude for the Earth and Peace through electronic music.

AUGUST 2023 MIX

This Summer the thriving LA based Sunday Sessions outfit will launch their vinyl label - SSLA - with a well rounded VA from residents and affiliates of the SS collective. You can expect to hear heavyweight sounds from the likes of Franky A, Laura Peck, Krane, Zalapa, and Mr. Santer, each of them exploring different strains of minimalistic sounds for various stages of the night. 

Franky A kicks things off with some deep sea diving on “Aquamarine”, a classy track that simmers progressively throughout, twisting and turning amongst the depths of the deep blue. Mysterious tones lead the way in Laura Peck’s “Subtle Dominance” a chugging sub heavy bass purrs throughout the trip, the stripped back approach goes a long way as this track would be sure to set the floor alight. 

The B side is introduced by Krane, “Fleita” is an emotion filled journey constructed upon dusty broken drums, pensive flutes and hypnotic acid lines, a collaboration track with his brother DJ Boora on the drums and mixing. Zalapa steers the EP in a more upbeat direction with “Mental Drift” meandering along with its killer elasticated groove. Hazy hip hop sounds in the final track “Put Some Action On Paper”, the ultimate soundtrack to end the night and leave everyone in a feel-good vibe. Mr. Santer with a fitting closer to the inaugural EP on the SS label. 

In recent years the flourishing  brand on the LA circuit have paved out a colourful journey, constructing a reputation upon intimate events, putting their faith into vinyl only diggers of all realms, famous faces you will definitely know but simultaneously offering a platform for local collectors to showcase their sound to a refined crowd, letting the music be the focus of each of event. 2023 will also see them spread their wings further and showcase the SS vibe in other cities such as Miami and New York.
