New York-based label Kindergarten Records is thrilled to unveil Ayesha’s (@aye5ha) debut album, ‘Rhythm is Memory’ – 10 boundary-pushing tracks, a shape-shifting percussive journey with electric moments. Stolen Velour (@stolenvelour) returns to Kindergarten Records with another confident display of intricate sound design and mind-bending rhythmic fluidity. In equal parts an embrace of silliness on the dancefloor and a serious piece of floor-shaking heft, Jasper builds on the palette of his last EP with the label, Onyx, and elevates Stolen Velour’s sound to new heights. A pair of label regulars switch up the flavours on the remixes. Sobolik (@tomsobolikmusic) strips back the opener to inject some space and a touch of dub, whereas Despina’s (@despinadespina) take on ‘I Know, I know’ tames some of the og’s wilder impulses to laser-in on strobing breaks and a wobbly low-end groove.

Despite the efforts of organizers around the world, and the overwhelming disapproval of the international community, Israel continues in their campaign to see the displacement, murder, occupation, and apartheid of Palestinians to its brutal end with the help of the USA and UK.

As artists operating in the West, we call unequivocally for an end to this violence, for justice in the Palestinian struggle, and for the US and UK’s divestment of political and financial capital from the genocidal Israeli state.

We gather this music to offer our solidarity, make our position clear, and encourage others to continue advocating and organizing for the Palestinian liberation struggle.

Slipstreaming EP

Premiere: Ma Sha & Sobolik ‘Liftoff’

Four years ago Ma Sha launched Kindergarten Records into a world in which dancing in a club was impossible. The sounds brimmed with an intensity and intimacy that felt so far away during the Covid 19 lockdowns and the following months saw a slew of close friends in the scene join the label. Within the dearth of contact they conjured that missing feeling of togetherness with a series of mind-bending split EPs that ultimately laid the foundations for the crew that Kindergarten now represents.

With Slipstreaming, the first split EP on the label since 2021, Ma Sha teams up with Sobolik to return to Kindergarten’s origins in collaboration and pure energy. Taking cues from each other’s unfinished projects and bouncing ideas back and forth, the pair serve up the fastest EP the label has released to date. While it may be a surprise to fans of the label that these higher climes haven’t been breached before, the frantic dynamism is exactly what we’ve come to expect from Kindergarten releases.
