Following their excellent Urgent Turquoise release for Om Recordings, the eclectic and ambitious San Francisco duo Tone of Arc have contributed their evocative sound to Roam Recordings’ second offering of 2016. Tone of Arc are comprised of Derrick Boyd (previously recording under the name Dead Seal) and Zoe Presnick … through well-received releases for the likes of No. 19 Music, Om Records, and Touch Of Class Records the pair have transmitted a series of moody electronic compositions that draw as much inspiration from cerebral post-punk gigs as sweaty, visceral dance floors. 

“Sundust” opens the single with its methodical tempo and haunting soundscapes, electrified by Derrick’s pensive words. The cut unfolds like a dream as layers of synths and vocal snippets build and vibrate throughout. “The Indigent” is a more stripped-down affair. A straight-forward four-on-the-floor rhythm, accented by big tom fills, creates the space for backwards pads and hinted melodies. It’s a mechanical meditation. Barcelona-based producer Lokier (HAKT, Days Of Being Wild) is also on hand for a haunting remix of “Sundust” that adds a commanding bass line and puts a spotlight on the vocal. Its steady forward motion is hypnotic in effect, intensifying the brain-to-feet aspect of Tone of Arc’s music.

On the Duboko Deep profile on soundcloud, the description begins with the words 'passionate collector & DJ'. After listening to his sets you know that it is better not to say in this case. Duboko translated from Croatian means 'deep', which is also very accurately describes the music DJ, and when you consider that he is fond of music since the late 80s, then the name a second meaning. And such meanings think there's much to find. Hailing from Croatia (Zagreb), he and his work pushes out to a little more deeper into electronic music culture in South-Western Europe, because the last time they like at the hearing and, if such experienced musicians demonstrate there is a good, in our opinion, taste, what there can do more than the younger generation and what potentials can escape. Interesting, isn't it? His sets are very emotional and dynamic and at the same time, it's some kind of space that does not let go and keeps you afloat creating the illusion of weightlessness in dance. @Manjumasi’s 15th offering proves that slow and steady wins the race! Back in July, label mastermind @atish teamed up with San Francisco neighbor @BengalSF for the first time since a debut on @Kindisch. A third of the star studded “atish + friends” EP, “Tortoise” exhibited patient yet tactful intention with each serene stride. Making his production debut for the label, A&R lead @Naveen-G makes this an in-house affair. The New Yorker utilizes modularity in his remix's first and second movements, giving rise to a breakdown full of warm, soaring synths.
