His label, Talktomemusic is a place for him to unleash these many different musical identities, as he plans a return to the fore with a raft of new music set for release over the next year. As a performer he is a true natural DJ who connects with audiences in a profound way and has also made his mark with his energetic live sets at the likes Sonar and Picnic Electronic. The standout 'Beerds' is a soothing lullaby, a gentle electronic groove that blurs organic and synthetic sounds into a woozy avant-pop gem. As wispy pads and bird calls drift about up top, you can't help but get lost in a reverential frame of mind while the cautiously optimistic chords provide real comfort. Gentle vocals add to the sense of vulnerability and make this a truly moving new track. The subtle Fake Clavinet remix is extended for dance floor workouts, with a rugged and wonky melodic lead added to bring some off-grid grit and texture and that encourages loose-limbed dancing.

Imagine studying a snow globe filled with humanity. We would seem strange and exotic, a fascinating Rubik's Cube of emotional permutations. That process of observation is creative fuel for Australia’s The Oddness. On his striking second LP, ’Observations as a Stranger’, the results are undeniable. It feels honest and vital, each track a fully functional dancefloor weapon imbued with cathartic energy. Serving as the third full-length release for the Beat & Path label, its emotional sheen is a perfect fit for the Australian imprint.

Over the last five years, the Melbourne-based producer’s star has been on a steady rise, finding favour with names like Eskimo Recordings and Satin Jackets. It makes total sense: the Oddness understands groove, he knows dub and he loves organic, three-dimensional 4/4 beats. Listen closely and you will also hear a fascinated humanist too. Across nine tracks he collaborates with a host of artists, oscillating from blues-tinged beats to slow deliberate house rhythms exploring the human experience - sometimes with devastating effect.

Former Infusion member Jamie Stevens collaborates with The Oddness on ‘Tomorrow’s Euphoria’. A tempered broken beat unites perfectly with subtle percussive elements, and stuttering vocal fx and synths rise and disappear like a low hanging mist on a cold morning. At the heart of it all is a longing melody which knows how to nestle itself between those painful cracks in your heart. After all, today’s torment is tomorrow’s euphoria.

Our good old family member Konchord continues his journey and celebrates another release of his seasonal projects. His "winter" liveset included the beautiful "Drowsy Dawn", which we have the honour to feature today. It's one of the more adventurous electronica pieces, that comes with a certain wit, that does not only uplift the rest of the scene, but brings back fresh air and shakes things up from the usual structure. A bouncy bassline and a rocky, overdriven synth bring this story close to the listener and take him on a joyful adventure, that comes with a "twisted playfulness". If you have heard Konchord's music before, you know his approach to music is rather trying to stay uniwur and out of the usual format. This time, he does adapt to a more club-ready frame, while keeping the clear connection for the psychadelic sound, that keeps this EP in a unique position.
