Bordeaux-based label Broken District is proud to announce the release of Theoric Proximity, the debut album from French producer and label co-founder Jus Jam. Following several well-received EPs, including the standout 90s Anxiety, this new 12-track project marks a turning point in both the artist’s personal journey and the label’s musical evolution.

Rooted in introspection and emotional depth, Theoric Proximity explores the notion of connection — physical and emotional proximity — and the complex, often subtle relationships we navigate in our everyday lives. It's a deeply personal work shaped by late-night sessions and a desire for sonic escapism.

Musically, the album blends ambient, jazz, UK-influenced club music, hip-hop, house, broken beat and soul into a cohesive, atmospheric journey. Though diverse in rhythm and form, the project retains a strong sense of identity, shaped by Jus Jam’s distinctive taste and production sensibility.

Rather than chasing trends or referencing specific styles, Theoric Proximity stems from a blank-slate approach, embracing intuition and emotional resonance over formula. Still, fans of artists like Anthony Naples, Andrea (Ilian Tape), Space Ghost, Hanna, James Blake, or Dreamcastmoe will likely find familiar textures and moods within the album’s palette.

Theoric Proximity represents a new milestone for Broken District, now confidently stepping into long-form storytelling through music. This debut album is an invitation to slow down, to drift, and to feel.

After shining a light on the Garage’n’Breaks of Persian and the Bump’n’House of Brian Bristol, the Mysticisms’ crew return with another reissue, to a source of love and inspiration, the epicenter of the 90s NYC club music’s explosion and development, with an EP from the music production partnership of Lee Rodriguez and Steven John Craden.

Better known as the team behind must-have The African Dream double-header on Eightball Records, they were a feature, under numerous pseudonyms, on the early 90s NYC scene with appearances on a who’s who of labels including Movin’, Strictly Rhythm, Tribal and with Elements of Life, on Oxygen Music Works.

Released as a 12”, a 2 x 12” and a CD album, the want of a lot of US labels at the time to mirror the success of Hip Hop saw an attempt to grow House ‘projects’ from club EPs to being seen as artists via albums and onwards.

The limited success of that tactic wasn’t to the detriment of solid music and what the four tracks included here show is at their heart are talented producers who can encompass ambient, jazz and deep / spiritual House music with aplomb.

The EP starts with Opening, a short introductory piece with mellow hats and warm keys that serve to show this is not your average 4 tracker, before soon giving way to the deep intensity of Dark Intervals. Tight drums, hats high and keys pushing, the vocal samples and swirling atmospherics all yield to a bass calling for loud sound systems.

On the reverse is an immense example of spiritual NYC house music for the ages in Innocence And Inspiration. The up, up, up hats, double bass, swirling arpeggio, tight claps, whistle strings, ridin’ jazz fused break-beats and then that purity of the piano cuts through everything like that shit is real. A break and solo for talc, drop and spins on Vinyl Sundays, those Latinos stage left, just watch and learn.

To close, the other side of Rodriquez and Craden is apparent in Are You With Me My Love? Taken from the album, here included to provide a repost to the grooves that have gone before. A song for sunset and sunrise – Ibizan ambience, with lilting keys, shanty samples, vocal questions and a melancholic horn refrain till end.

The flickering lights flashed and buzzed upon the billboard, the giant screen looked down upon the passing people who walked beneath the radiant glare of the monitor. They were not aware of the dense, intricate complexity required to make such electronic engineering work and whiz behind the scenes. Each pixel was like a microdancer, a tiny orb which danced and died in the blink of an eye only to be replaced by the next pulsing light. It was night time in the city and the glow of the billboard was all which illuminated the way for the lonely walkers, a city ignorant and unthinking. Lead by the visions on a midnight screen. 

Tracey is set to release a new EP on Aus Music, an electro inspired affair which channels the rough and rugged sounds commonly associated with Den Haag. This one has been widely supported and works a treat.

Hannah D is able to weave her DJ sets through seemingly disparate realms of music with ease. It's a skill that makes her performances so exciting , and has quickly earned her support slots for a hectic array of artists and appearances at festivals across Australia. This passion is also channeled through her Brisbane based label and artist management collective The Space Between Us, which provides a platform for artists hailing from the sunshine state. She shares a mix that brings together club-focused maximalism and isolation-inspired introspection.

A bit about the mix:
While there has been a huge part of me lately that has felt quite introspective over the last few months, there's also a big part that misses the club - loud music, dancing etc. So this mix summarises this for me - it's quite club focused for the most part, with parts of introspection (and a little cheese at the end <3). Bits of IDM, techno, progressive trance and breaks - and a lot of tracks that have quite distinct elements typical of a mid-late 90s sound which I am super into lately. I had a lot of fun recording so I really hope you enjoy listening :)

'Exit Planet Earth - Nitrogen' features a selection of pioneers and up and coming talent. First up is a true legend of the UK electro scene, Keith Tenniswood aka ‘Radioactive Man’, who creates a constantly evolving sonic trip called ‘One Out’. Watch out for the surprise sting in its tail too. Sharing the A side is the incredibly talented Spanish producer Annie Hall, arriving fresh from her stunning CPU releases. Annie creates melodic landscapes, layered with intricate string orchestration driven by deep bass.
On the flip side Helsinki-based Sunny Seppä aka Sansibar shows exactly why he is fast becoming hot property following his immense debut album on FTP - ‘Targeted Individuals’. Sansibar brings the record back to the 4/4 with a flowing yet subtle working of synths and pads. Also based in Finland yet hailing from Holland is VC-118A, who previously caught our attention with his track ‘PCB’ a firm favourite at Exit Planet Earth events. VC118-A delivers some deep space dub with expertly crafted production centring on low end theory.
