I really love those moments in a club where you suddenly find yourself in this deep, introspective space; the pressure has been slowly building for a while, the atmosphere is kind of simmering to the point where it feels like it might boil over… I guess the mix is inspired by moments like that, really.

I had this imagery in my mind of a deep-sea dive - the pressure mounting as you go deeper, until eventually you’re in this other-worldly place with all kinds of trippy-looking creatures. Then making your way back to the surface, the pressure eases as you see the light and feel the sea spray… hopefully that comes across haha

People should definitely check out the Coop Audio collective. We’ve done a few collaborative parties with them and their ethos on safe raving is something that really resonates. They also run this annual weekender in which everyone is encouraged to participate in making the weekend a success by contributing a skill/talent to the weekend, whether that’s running a workshop, teaching yoga or playing a DJ set. Pus they’ve all got peng tunes and are really lovely people. So yeah big shout out Chris & co ♡

Any time I watch Jeff Mills do his thing, I repeatedly come away convinced that he’s probably the best DJ in the world.

I lived in Hanoi for a few years and it still holds a really special place in my heart. Clubs like Savage and parties like Snug are creating something unique in the Asian scene, unearthing and showcasing loads of local talent in a country that’s not necessarily known for its clubbing scene worldwide (but soon will be imo). sinny is one of a handful of new DJ’s seeking to broaden the horizons of UK Bass music – drawing upon far reaching influences which often lead toward exciting innovation and experimentation. Based in London but hailing from Manchester sinny holds residencies on LOOSE.FM, Netil Radio and 1020 Radio but it is in the clubs that his sound has begun to gather momentum.

Appearances at the likes of Spanners, Corsica and Low Profile Studios have helped to establish his identity on the circuit as he seeks to follow in the footsteps of those who have pushed the UK sound forward in recent times.

This mixtape demonstrates their versatility as a DJ – at times incredibly hard hitting the music itself is rooted in the very undercurrents of what has made electronic music in the UK great these past thirty odd years. Breaks, Trap, Bass, Techno, Jungle and beyond are all weaved together in some sort of mutant hybrid to create a whirlwind journey through sounds and sonics.
