As well as new music on forthcoming Loco Dice's impressive Desolat imprint, this year Yousef has released music on Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, Defected, remixing Carl Cox, and gravitating his own Circus Recordings to a remarkable level by releasing this years biggest underground track, Green Velvets "Bigger Than Prince".

Yousef’s collaboration with The Angel, the anthemic "Float Away" released on FFRR/Warners/Big Beat Records was this summers Ibiza hidden treasure and is still simmering

3 Yousef singles for Defected appeared in the last year, “Think Twice”, "I See" (ADE week Buzz Chart #1) and of course “Beg” which sat at the top of the Beatport charts for 10 weeks.

His record label Circus Recordings continues to spread its message of the best in underground house and techno at an alarming rate, signing heroes like Reboot, Carl Cox, Green Velvet and re surfacing the super talented Harry Romero, as well as developing fresh names like Acid Mondays, David Glass and Horatio, building a strong platform for Yousef’s own music.

'Believe in Love' features the legendary vocal of Roy Davis Jr who once again, asks the world a poignant question. A rolling, infectious and gnarly groove develops and unfolds into a long and harmonic breakdown, and then of course a blistering crescendo. Designed to be for the heads but still enough action for the people that follow Yousef’s more musically trickier offerings.

'Just a Beat' in exactly that. Yousef busts out a stripped back boogie bass over tight drums and oddball acid. No messing around, heads down, hands up.

'What is Revolution' is taken within an inch of its life by Circus label mates Acid Mondays. Remixing one of the stand out cuts from Yousef’s recent “a product of your environment’ artist album, the Mondays show how to bring authentic house music into the 21st century.

With most DJ’s barely getting their teeth in to 2014 yet, Rotterdam based composer and producer Eelke Kleijn is already back teasing more huge tracks. Set for release on Feb. 24 on Eskimo Recordings are two brand new originals. ‘Lovely Sweet Divine’ is a slice of space disco heaven. This otherworldly tune is drenched in expansive reverb, disco rhythms and infectious arpeggiated basslines.

Typically brooding with an uplifting inflection, 'A Tale Of Two Lovers' is Eelke at the top of his game – only what we have come to expect from recent months. Combining fluid violins, hang drums and his typical bass rumble it’s a track from someone so adept at production they have the confidence and freedom to play around with styles in the 7-minute runtime.

The 33rd release on microCastle features the return of Matt Thomas aka King Unique to the label. The storied UK producer has been an integral part of microCastle over the course of the labels 5 year existence. This is Matt's fourth appearance and it follows his much hyped remix of Jamie Stevens 'The Wonder Of You' from November of 2013. It's been a huge year thus far for King Unique with an appearance on Bedrock's 'Underground Sound of Miami' collection and the release of 'Yohkoh 2014' on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. We're pleased to welcome Matt back to microCastle for his first EP entitled 'Some Break The Shell'. The EPs unique title taken from Molly Drake's poem 'The Shell' is in reference to Matt breaking away from the musical ground which many have come to expect from him.

The melodic house production Raydrop (7 Hours feat. Natalie Arnold) leads the EP off in fine fashion. King Unique's big beats, chunky grooves and quirky electronics lay down a contemporary vibe early on. The spacious foundation then gets well complemented with hypnotic keys, hazy sheets of harmony and Natalie's pristine vocals which cut through the atmosphere with a dynamic flair. This tastefully restrained epic has already earned praise from Above & Beyond, Hernan Cattaneo and Henry Saiz so expect to be hearing this one a lot in the coming months! A dub of 'Raydrop' has also been included which features the same great musical themes from '7 Hours' presented in a slightly more subtle fashion which should serve the less vocally inclined DJs perfectly.

The EPs third selection 'Some Break' sees King Unique exploring an ultramodern melodic sound. The undeniable bounce of the breakbeat rhythms are not only fresh but are sure to be magic on the dancefloor. The melodic content of the track is continually building as emotive vocal elements and poignant harmonies play off each other for what results in the ultimate sun drenched anthem. The EP's final track 'Without Boxes' is in many ways it's most exquisite piece. The delicate textures are full of wonderful character and the unique progression of the production carries a profoundly emotional message. It's a piece of music that will sit with you for quite some time and it puts a perfect close to what is one of King Unique's most eagerly anticipated EPs of his career.

A ceaseless schedule of dj sets and festival gigs backed up by relentless studio sessions resulting in scores of records, remixes and radio broadcasts has made the KU sound an instantly recognizable part of the music-life of millions of the world’s clubbers - and a fixture in the vinyl crates, cd wallets and laptops of the world’s most influential djs. Consistently appealing across genres the tracks have been played by everyone from John Digweed to Soulwax, Richie Hawtin to Tiesto, and have turned up everywhere from Hollywood soundtracks to mobile ringtones - not to mention countless compilations and mix albums.

This new 'cosmic techno' has found it's home on John Digweed's Bedrock label with the release of "2000000 Suns" and the KU / Anthony Pappa collaboration “Vamoosh”. Backing up the new material have been remixes of John Digweed’s “Bilder”, Hernan Cattaneo’s “Teleport”, Fergie’s “PCP” and an on-going association with James Lavelle’s UNKLE project that has so far resulted in five stunning re-workings; “Heaven”, "Heavy Drug", “The Answer”, “Reign feat. Ian Brown” & “Rabbit In Your Headlights feat. Thom Yorke” - all adding up to reaffirm Matt's status as one of the most versatile and consistent producers of the last ten years.

The renowned King Unique dj set has made KU a regular addition to the line up of some of the world's most respected clubs and biggest festivals, playing everywhere from ultra-hip blacked-out sweat boxes in Tokyo to euphoric crowds of thousands on the tropical beaches of Madeira. King Unique from Toika to Verboten - recorded live in Toronto & NYC

100% made with sounds dialled into a super rare 1977 Lord Synthesisers Skywave monosyth during revival and major repairs by D.A.Wilson at Hideaway Studio.  Believed to be only one of ten ever built it is clear this curious instrument was designed from the outset as a performance instrument boasting several unusual features such as a three-axis joystick modulating the pitch/filter/VCA/LFO and Sample-Hold features as well as featuring Low and Band-Pass filters along with a built-in Ring Modulator and Phaser.  It all takes some getting used to but there is a lot of sonic territory to explore with this unusual beast.  

I decided to call this piece Desert Awakening as I've often felt like I've been alone in the desert whilst reviving this beast thanks to an apparent total lack of any technical information out there!

Here at Data Transmission we've always been a little hesitant when it comes to mash-ups; too many rappers dropped over classic rock or synth pop has left us mentally scarred. Step forward Chester's King Unique, with a bootleg remix combining three top dogs of contemporary dance; we think we've just been converted!

Combining Napoleon's 'Heart Of Night', Dave Seaman's 'Justified Replacement Of Lulu (Joeski Remix)' and 'Kiss Me Again' by Bakradze, Unique weaves a tech house groover with a tropical twist.

The tracks are taken from Unique's new 25-track Beyond Borders: London compilation for Armada, which includes a full 77-minute mix. Said to blend "old school drum ‘n’ bass and speed garage soundsets with the bump and groove of melodic house" the album is the first in a new mix series; Unique explains the concept via press release: "There’s no preconception; there are no expectations placed on the artist stylistically, the mix is literally 'without borders'. The only anchor is that it be tied to a place, and even how literally that is taken is up for grabs."

Kicking things off Unique wanted to explore the"musical mutation and graffiti scrawled grooves" of London. “I’m now mining the weirder techy end of the underground, in a scene where the ‘90s heritage is as relevant as when I started. I’m a ‘90s house coelacanth, an actual ‘90s producer that the kids can gawp at and prod with sticks,” he jests. "There are some bits of music on here that I adore more than my children.”

The renowned King Unique dj set has made KU a regular addition to the line up of some of the world's most respected clubs and biggest festivals, playing everywhere from ultra-hip blacked-out sweat boxes in Tokyo to euphoric crowds of thousands on the tropical beaches of Madeira. An increasingly hectic international schedule has seen Matt racking up enough air-miles for a free trip to the moon, with gigs in Sydney, Panama, Budapest, Seoul, Helsinki, Mexico City, Dubai, Rosario, Bogota, Kazantip, Vilnius - just to name a handful. Since the very first shows Matt has pushed at the cutting edge of the technology revolution that's swept through club culture, taking laptops, new gadgets and studio gear into the booth. 2010 saw the addition of the near mythic Monome controller to the sonic armoury - part track-mangling Ableton controller and part psychedelic light show, lovingly hand built by techno-hippies in the Catskill Mountains.
