When music producers Niconé and Sascha Braemer get together in the studio you can never tell when another idea will come round the corner. But what we can tell is that their newest production comes from the heart. It’s titled “Myheart” and makes for Berlin record label Dantze’s 48th release (once founded by Niconé and Philip Bader). The EP includes the original track of the same name and a remix by Alexander Gerlach. It may be purchased via <a href="http://www.beatport.com/release/myheart-feat-kimtoo/1314249">Beatport</a> since June 16th, 2014.

set recording from a pretty legendary friday night with myself & Hernan Cattaneo at The Gallery Club last month - plenty of dark bass goodness & trip-out melodic moments. *best* moment of the night though was playing '7 Hours' & 'Black a.m.' to a packed house with vocalist Natalie Arnold on the dance floor for the first time. hearing the cheers coming out of the crowd as they recognised the tunes coming in, 14 years after we wrote that first record together, was genuinely a bit magical.

Between my being asked to do the remix & getting started on it the other half of LFO, Mark Bell, died suddenly. I decided to abandon the approach I’d planned for the remix & do something that tried to capture the freedom & limitless psychedelic possibility that dance music had when it first exploded into a multiplicity of new styles in the UK, a moment captured perfectly in time by LFO ‘LFO’. This is how dance music felt to me in the summer of ‘92 lying in a Welsh field at an illegal traveller’s rave

The 37th release on microCastle finds the label revisiting King Unique's Beatport #1 release 'Some Break The Shell'. The four track EP released in April of 2014 found the storied UK producer showcasing some of the most diverse and poignant work of this career. Now to kick off 2015 we see four brand new interpretations courtesy of Dubspeeka, Jamie Stevens, Pedram and Petrels.

Partial PR: The lone interpretation of 'Without Boxes' is provided by Petrels who is making his debut on microCastle. UK producer Oli Barrett debuted his Petrels project in 2011 with the release of 'Haeligewielle' which by year's end found its place in numerous best of the year lists. His unique take on ambient electronica also caught the attention of Max Cooper who had Petrels remix 'Fragments of Self' just over year ago. For his 'Without Boxes' interpretation Petrels has truly outdone himself. Working from the grandiose theme which made the original so captivating the UK producer has crafted a majestic, slow burning epic. It's textural shifts and meditative design makes for an enlightening journey and the slow structural decay which rounds out its third act is a granular delight.

In his home country, Infusion has received 2 prestigious ARIA awards for their work.  More recently Jamie's discography has been highlighted by a contribution (Prism) to John Digweed and Nick Muir's 'Versus’ album along with 'The Wonder of You', released in 2013 on microCastle, which turned out to be one of his career best pieces of work.  It earned a #1 chart placing in both Tech House and Electronica on Beatport and was widely regarded as one of the year's best releases.  Always a magical remixer Jamie has reinvented the sparkling, melodic 'Some Break' into a stomping techno beast of a record. Already played by Jeremy Olander & Guy J at the VH1 Supersonic festival it looks to be one of Jamie's biggest techno productions of the year.

The mysterious Han Haak lands at Sudbeats doors. His previous work has seem him grace Selador, Sound Avenue and We Are Here Music, and now with 'Redemption' he joins the Sudbeat family. We don’t know anything else about Mr Haak, so we'll just move on to the music and let that do the talking.

‘Redemption', much like Han, is deep and mysterious. Its hypnotic soundscape really draws you in, as its chime like pattern creates tension, while the bass paves the way as this dance floor gem unfurls its magic. After the drop the energy levels increase as extra layers are add deliver a surge in its already driving demeanour. Big stuff!

The always consistent King Unique take on the remix duties, and were certainly wearing the techno trousers on this occasion, as this dark rework packs a serious punch. Trippy fx on the beats make things wobbly from the off, as we moodily march forward, before those bells shroud us further into its enigmatic vibe. Add some live drums, some doppler style effects to the beats to add to this narcotised workout.

Rounding things off nicely we have ‘Damnation'. Shoulder swaying groovy techieness oozes out of every pore here, as nice little reversed blips line the track, as the descending moody patterns gently cascade before all of the layers merge wonderfully in to a solid mass of goodness.

King Unique is Matt Thomas, an all round studio junkie and dj with a taste for tripped-out cosmic techno and rough-edged underground house; in a career spanning nearly a decade KU’s distinctive sound has won an enviable global following. A ceaseless schedule of dj sets and festival gigs backed up by relentless studio sessions resulting in scores of records, remixes and radio broadcasts has made the KU sound an instantly recognizable part of the music-life of millions of the world’s clubbers - and a fixture in the vinyl crates, cd wallets and laptops of the world’s most influential djs. Consistently appealing across genres the tracks have been played by everyone from John Digweed to Soulwax, Richie Hawtin to Tiesto, and have turned up everywhere from Hollywood soundtracks to mobile ringtones - not to mention countless compilations and mix albums.  

Formed in 2001 by Matt Thomas & Matthew Roberts, King Unique hit the floor running, claiming the title of Undisputed Remix Champs by scoring five Essential New Tunes in five months on Pete Tong's "Essential Selection" Radio 1 show. A US Billboard Dance Chart number 1 for the remix of Dirty Vegas’ “Walk Into The Sun”, plus two more solo Essential New Tunes for Matt under his Watkins and Mainframe alter-egos saw KU firmly cement their place amongst the ranks of first-call remixers. The King Unique production touch has been in constant demand since, appearing on more than sixty remixes and yielding some of the biggest dance floor bombs known to man - Underworld's "Two Months Off", The Killers "Somebody Told Me", Planet Funk’s “The Switch”, John Dahlback's "Late Night Worries", and Tracey Thorn’s "Grand Canyon". 

2006 saw the end of the original duo’s studio partnership, as Matt Thomas took on the King Unique role as a solo artist. The four years since have seen the KU sound rise to new heights with a mixture of euphoric acidic melodies, dark brooding techno vibes and old skool beats. This new 'cosmic techno' has found it's home on John Digweed's Bedrock label with the release of "2000000 Suns" and the KU / Anthony Pappa collaboration “Vamoosh”. Backing up the new material have been remixes of John Digweed’s “Bilder”, Hernan Cattaneo’s “Teleport”, Fergie’s “PCP” and an on-going association with James Lavelle’s UNKLE project that has so far resulted in five stunning re-workings; “Heaven”, "Heavy Drug", “The Answer”, “Reign feat. Ian Brown” & “Rabbit In Your Headlights feat. Thom Yorke” - all adding up to reaffirm Matt's status as one of the most versatile and consistent producers of the last ten years.

The renowned King Unique dj set has made KU a regular addition to the line up of some of the world's most respected clubs and biggest festivals, playing everywhere from ultra-hip blacked-out sweat boxes in Tokyo to euphoric crowds of thousands on the tropical beaches of Madeira. An increasingly hectic international schedule has seen Matt racking up enough air-miles for a free trip to the moon, with gigs in Sydney, Panama, Budapest, Seoul, Helsinki, Mexico City, Dubai, Rosario, Bogota, Kazantip, Vilnius - just to name a handful. Since the very first shows Matt has pushed at the cutting edge of the technology revolution that's swept through club culture, taking laptops, new gadgets and studio gear into the booth. 2010 saw the addition of the near mythic Monome controller to the sonic armoury - part track-mangling Ableton controller and part psychedelic light show, lovingly hand built by techno-hippies in the Catskill Mountains.
