Named after the moniker he broke through with 15 years ago, it’s both an album and a time machine. After helping invent and globalize Chicago drill, launching the Swervin Through Stress nonprofit, and scoring his biggest hit “Went Legit” off his 2024 mixtape Greatest Rapper Alive (13M direct-to-fan streams), Herbo is now reaching back and looking forward. He recorded 100 songs over a year, revisited old favorites, and returned to Chicago studios with his day-ones. The result blends soulful No I.D.-crafted hip hop, menacing drill, and a rare Wyclef Jean feature—plus a reunion with the late Juice WRLD.  “I'm at the finish line… I'm in full control of my destiny now. I've finished the marathon I started when I was 16, when I was Lil Herb.”

Jamir Quran Bangs, better known as Hvndo, isn’t just another rapper trying to make it out of the hood—he’s a force of nature, a product of Elizabeth, New Jersey, a place known as "The Wick" because it gets wicked there. In a world where life can be ruthless, Hvndo has found a

leaving him to face the streets of "The Wick" without a mentor. The streets, however, would become the backdrop for his story, and his music would be the medium through which he tells it. Before music became his calling, the streets were his reality. It was a world where you had to
learn fast or get left behind. But even in the midst of chaos, there was a spark of creativity within him. School plays and theater offered brief glimpses of the artist that Hvndo would one day become, though back then, it might have seemed like just another escape from the darkness. But those moments were more than just a reprieve—they were the first steps on a path that would eventually lead him to where he is today.
Hvndo’s sound is rooted in his experiences, influenced by the streets but also by the artists who came before him. Lil Wayne, in particular, was a major inspiration. Wayne’s music spoke to him in a way that no one else’s did, offering a blueprint for how to turn pain into poetry. But Hvndo isn’t just another artist in Wayne’s shadow; he’s carved out his own space, with a voice that’s as distinct as it is powerful. Often compared to King Von and Polo G, Hvndo brings a level of wit, wordplay, and authenticity that sets him apart. He’s got his own story to tell, and he tells it in a way that’s both deeply personal and universally relatable. Although Hvndo’s roots
are in drill music, his love for soul music adds depth to his artistry. Soul music, with its emotive, descriptive, and universally accepted themes, has taught him how to turn his tragedies into trophies and his struggles into triumphs. Even as he spits gritty bars over hard-hitting beats,
there’s a layer of soulful influence that runs through his music. In 2022, after returning from jail, Hvndo made a decision—he wasn’t going to let the system define him. He hit the ground running, shooting four music videos almost immediately after his release. With the help of Huge Hood, a titan in the industry, along with Gotham Music Group and Why Would We Lose, Hvndo found his
footing in the industry, making a name for himself with a relentless work ethic and a sound that couldn’t be ignored.
