Out of the most famous and lively township in South Africa and indeed the world, Mondli Mashinini aka DJ Fresca is hailed as one of the liveliest and best. He is well respected and reknowned amongst his peers at Soul Candi and in the industry at large. The decks are sure to be on fire when he's in charge. 

DJ Fresca's smash hit, "Iinto enge Khoyo" has been blazing the airwaves and filling dance floors at every party and social gathering. The hit is available on the current DJ Fistas' Mixwell Impressive,  the SABC's House Flava Fo Sho compilation and the Café Solaire 16 compilation released in Germany. The song was done by him and his partner at Urban Tone Records, Nhlanhla Khumalo ft Lelethu. The duo has recently released there debut album which is on high rotation on most influencial radio stations nationally and is doing very well sales wise.

DJ Fresca has been dj'ing for 15 years and producing for the past 5 years.  
By all means, he is a pro at what he does. He is high on the list of any good party organiser. He has a vibrant and unique style of playing and fuses Minimal, Soul, Deep and vocal House that drives people crazy. Scores and scores of crowds have been rocked by him at clubs and venues like Rock N Roll, Club Arena, Electric Workshop, Zambezi Lounge, Sky Bar, etc. 

DJ Fresca is and has been playing with top DJ's from South Africa and around the world. Fellow DJ's like Oskido, Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Christos, DJ Monde, DJ Mbuso, Glen Lewis, have nothing but the best things to say about him. He's played with international DJ's like Paul Johnson and DJ Skip, Hendrik Schwartz, Ame and Heather (of Black Ledgents). He's had recording sessions with DJ Jayson. This man is on a plan to take over, and if the response to "Iinto Enge Khoyo" is anything to go by, he probably will.

DJ Fresca has quite a few accolades in the industry but one of the most memorable for him was winning the 2004 season of the Vinyl Meltdown that's hosted by DJ Fresh and yes, Fresh does think that nothing tastes like Fresca. DJ Fresca is inspired by other DJ's and artists, and his love for the music. 

He is a regular feature at the Soweto Beach Party, went on tour with Miller Genuine Draft, went on tour from Cape to Cairo, literally. He's played in Cape Town, Durban, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana and all the way to Egypt. 

He has recently been touring and promoting SABC's "House Flava Fo Sho" with DJ's Clock, Giggs(Superstar), Master Jam, Mr Cee(Blackwhole) and Lelethu Nkula, the vocalist of "Iinto Enge Khoyo".

He is also on tour with Savanna on the Savanna Lemon Revolution & Savanna Exclusive Picnic. He is playing alongside the likes of DJ Monde, Mac G, C-Live, Zan D, 2lly and Linda The Great.

In the spirit of "Ubuntu", he has also been involved in the National Tour Campaign for the Society for Family Health on a drive to raise awareness and educate people about HIV/AIDS. His passion to help also extended his career and scope as he is a full time DJ Course Lecturer at the Soul Candi Institute of Music in Springfield, Johannesburg. All this is testimony to his talent and due to his extensive knowledge and experience. He loves to share his love, passion and knowledge with up-and-coming dj's and producers. 

Not only is Fresca a DJ but you could call him a historian as well. He made history by becoming the very first student to enroll at the Soul Candi Institute of Music in January 2003. Subsequent to that he was then recruited by Soul Candi to become the music production lecturer and then DJ lecturer. He has been at Soul Candi since 2004.

Although Soul Candi epitomised his career, DJ Fresca has been in the industry for a very long time. As far back as 1998, he used to blaze the airwaves as a resident DJ at YFM with the late legendary Khabzela. He stayed at YFM for a period of two years. He featured in various shows at YFM for the likes of Unathi, Bondo Ntuli, Nutty Nice and AK. 

With the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa DJ Fresca has been part of many events during the event. A regular at the SABC Radio Football Friday events happening at the SABC premises.   A resident DJ at the Innes Free Park and Elkha Stadium Fan Fests this been a joy full world cup for him. 

DJ Fresca is a very big force to be reckoned with and will still be at forefront of House music now, and for a very long time to come.


It all started in '97 in high school as a substitute disk jockey between short breaks and after school sessions.  Fast forward year '99 that's when he really scaled up his passion and learned how to produce dance music, he started collecting records from different shops prepping himself to become a professional disk jockey. Year 2009 he started his label Define Dub Music which has hot releases which are available on online stores. His first E.P Magic in your eyes feat Garth Brown was his break on the online House Music scene since then he never look back. Now based in Cape Town, South Africa
