One Wish (Album)

This Intro perfectly depicts MasSicker's musical versatility while delivering his mission statement. Produced by his younger brother MityMaose this high energy digital dancehall track (including an obscure Marvin Gaye sample) grabs your attention from the outset. Immediately as this track begins you are greeted by a space age style intro (voiced by backing vocalist Keturah Goldson) in stark contrast to the rustic mosaic image chosen for the cover art. King MAS immediately goes on a lyrical rampage explaining why he's "sicker than sick" and, with Rastafari at the core, delivers a scathing onslaught of flows and melodies that immediately give the impression that there will be no shortage of energy in this album and you are not in for business as usual with the "One Wish" album..

01 Intro (Call Di Doc)

This one is a classic blend of old and new. Coming from as far as the UK, this riddim was produced by "Dready" (the maker of Chipmunk feat. Mavado - Any Gal, Busta Rhymes ft Vybz Kartel - Whine and Go Down and many more certified dancehall hits) sampled from the Leroy Smart classic "The Victory" over the "Unchained" riddim. Mas shows his versatility on this slightly hip-hop oriented track with singing and chanting masterfully and sending a message that the new generation of musical warriors has arrived and all who fight to undermine them shall "Fade Away"..

02 Fade Away

This hard-hitting social commentary "Pain" was written and composed by King MAS as far back as 2010. After composing the riddim digitally he made a trip to Jamaica and linked up with one of the most talented young bands in Jamaica at the moment, the Dubtonic Kru, who brought the rhythm to life. The anguish is palpable as King MAS expresses his assessment of the state of his nation and touches upon the problems faced by the African diaspora from the mental chains of  western religions foisted upon us, the corrupt financial system that keeps our nations impoverished, and our own responsibility to "defend the youths" and know that "unity is the key to survival"

03 Pain

Inspired by real conversations with people close to him, King MAS wrote and composed this touching one drop tune to bring attention the problem of sexual abuse that is rarely talked about yet seemingly so widespread as to be the rule in many communities rather than the exception. Once again, this riddim is played by the Dubtonic Kru and it brings across the emotion of the subject matter masterfully as a true example of 21st century one-drop music while King MAS brings about a blunt and varied approach to the topic looking at it from all sides. Hoping to encourage more talk about the subject in order to bring it into the open, "Don't Touch" is a tune that that every conscious reggae music lover should touch..

04 Don't Touch

In another social commentary, King MAS tackles the "Rent-A-Dread" issue where dreadlocked men prostitute themselves under the guise of Rastafari culture. Having personally been propositioned on more than one occasion, Mas takes a rebellious stance on the issue and promotes pride and dignity amongst his people over a sweet "rockers" style rhythm played by none other than the legendary Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace (with guitar overdubs played by King MAS, a budding guitarist in his own right). As versatile as this artist is, and as capable as he is of crossing over into the mainstream, this tune in it's content and style shows without a doubt that this young Ras is "Not For Sale"..

05 Not for Sale

Grammy award-winning songwriter, vocalist & guitarist King Mas is a musical amalgamation of culture and art. A voice that reverberates thought-provoking messages, King Mas is a trailblazer for the conscious reggae fusion movement. Dubbed the “Musical Obeah Man”, The King has inherited an ancestral music tradition that spans generations. A native of Boston, Massachusetts, King Mas was born to culturally grounded Caribbean parents. His father Supreme, is a legendary calypso monarch from the island of Montserrat, and his mother a Clarendon born Jamaican who grew up during the formative years of reggae music. This is not to mention, an immensely talented lineage that is comprised of musicians and songwriters including Everton “Reality” Weeks, who wrote the world-renowned calypso hit “Hot, Hot, Hot”.

With a strong passion for music, King Mas drew inspiration from isolation as an epilepsy survivor. Facing the reality of a potentially life ending condition, King Mas would find solace in song. With Walkman in hand, he would tune into the arrangements of his favorite artists and impersonate their musical style and delivery. From Buju to Busta, to Beres and, Brian McKnight, The King immersed himself in varied types of music. It was this experience that shaped his existence as an exceptional artiste with an international following. 

King Mas acknowledges his divine purpose for living, also known as Nkrabea. Drawing from African spirituality, The King crafts distinctive words and sound to release life-altering energy, aiding mankind in realizing itself. With songs like, “Walk Like A Champion” and “Reflection”, King Mas chooses to heal rather than simply entertain. It is through this calling that he has earned the moniker “Musical Obeah Man”, paying homage to his Afro-Caribbean roots. 

To date, King Mas has performed all over the United States and the four corners of the world. From Lebanon to Lintz, to the Limpopo River, The King has electrified audiences with his unique vocal style, often delivering encore performances. In 2012, he independently released his debut album, “One Wish”. Now, “Rasta Evolution” released under Nature's Way Ent. contained several significant hits. The "Crown" album, executive produced by his brother "Mitymaose" will mark another paradigm shifting audio offering from the King.
