I recorded this track with my friends Matt Hubbard, Adam Temple & Jane Bond. Follow the Drinking Gourd was a traditional pre-Civil War song sung by slaves making their way along the Underground Railroad to freedom. The drinking gourd refers to the Little Dipper in the Northern night sky, which they used to guide themselves along the correct path... at the end, "Where the old man is waiting for to carry you to Freedom, follow the drinking gourd".
