After a very busy summer and winter spent alternatively between touring his signature sound around Europe and sequestering himself in strict studio lock down, Marcus Visionary returns to his own label with his first major release for 2015. Toronto's Jungle Ambassador  brings his inimitable touch to remixing  Dancehall legend Cutty Ranks and UK Reggae impresario Curtis Lynch on four mixes of "Badness".  Cutty questions the current  state of over the top gangster posturing in today's youth asking "How them get so bad?", calling their bluff stating "I don't believe it, I'm just not convinced"  and reminding the listener about some of the real bad men of Jamaican street lore.   Marcus steps up first with the "Tear Out" mix utilizing Curtis Lynch's original riddim track to full effect incorporating  choice digi dancehall steel drums and percussion  into his crowd pleasing  Amen heavy rinse out. A piece of tried tested and true dub plate weaponry guaranteed to whip the dance into a frenzy.  Up next Marcus's "Bashy Mix" pulls away the elements leaving  a futuristic half step  that truly highlights the tracks Bashment origins and segues perfectly with more conventional Drum & Bass.  Rounding out the package is a "Tear Out Dub" mix which strips back and echo chambers out most of the vocals leaving behind an MC ready rave destroyer, and  a re-release of Marcus's original remix of the track which was previously issued on Lynch's Necessary Mayhem imprint.

Dia De Muertos. A dry flinty wind blows tumbleweeds along the dusty street like a pack of lazy dogs. The hangman rides his thirsty horse into the border town of La Calavera, as deserted as a cemetary in the afternoon heat. Everyone knows of the notorious gang of gundoleros known as the Chopstick Posse, and his fee will be large. He walks across to the inn. The Sheriff’s relief is obvious as he hands the silver and a bottle of local mezcal to the hangman. He reaches inside his shirt and pulls a leather pouch off his neck, extracting a heavy antique key on a brass chain, and leaves it on the table. Glancing once more at the hangman, he takes back the tequila and leaves quickly. The hangman shrugs, signals for another bottle, and rolls a cigarillo from his pouch of green mexican..
Hours later, after the blood-red glow of the setting sun has faded from the sky, the hangman turns the key in the darkness and pushes open the rusty door. He holsters his pistol, and his cockney accent filters through the haze. “you alright?”. Another English voice replies from the corner “We’re just about outta spliff mate” , continued by an American - “but not outta bullets”. The room chuckles. Seven of Mexico’s most wanted gundoleros, one crowded stucco cell, and a haze of dank smoke. The metallic clacking sound of guns loading fills the darkening room, as the glowing cigarillos are
crushed out one by one. “Shall we wake the Sheriff?”

This track samples one of Alan Lomax' recordings of black prisoners singing a song named 'Early in the Morning' from the 1940's. It hails back to Europe and Americas dark history of slavery and the imprisonment of minorities.

"These recordings were made in 1947 in the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman. The singers were all Negro prisoners, who, according to the practice of Mississippi, were serving out their time by working on a huge state cotton plantation in the fertile Yazoo Delta. Only a few strands of wire separated the prison from adjoining plantations. Only the sight of an occasional armed guard or a barred window in one of the frame dormitories made one realise that this was a prison. The land produced the same crop; there was the same work for the Negroes to do on both sides of the fence. And there was no Delta Negro who was not aware of how easy it was for him to find himself on the wrong side of those few strands of barbed wire..."
