Shades of auburn, orange and brown swept the park, from high up in the trees to the blanket that covered the ground. Autumn had arrived; it was in the colour of the leaves that crunched underfoot, the long scarves draped over the shoulders of passersby and in the slight chill that permeated the air. Though the cold was setting in, the benches that lined the park still looked inviting. You could mind your business and watch the world go by; here there was time for contemplation and reflection, space for inspiration and enlightenment. 

Brussels independent station Kiosk Radio has become a buzzing hub for the music community in the city. For the first release on their newly minted label offshoot, Kiosk Recs, they shine a light on a group of artists from within this community, station residents and members of Undo Seat Belts and Plein Sud who operate under the name PAL.

An ode to the Parc Royal, which has been the home of Kiosk Radio since it began in 2017, over nine tracks 'Music For Hikers' ruminate on their favourite places in the park, which took on a new meaning during lockdown. Moving through different moods and tempos, the LP is a blend of ambient, downtempo, spoken word and new wave which were originally commissioned by local art center Beursschouwburg as part of their On The Go sound walk series.

Macadam Mambo launches another special LP to end the 2022 season, presenting the debut album of this Belgo-Italian aural freak show called « Sexo Y Fantasia ». A delicious record full of sun by aspect, dreamy, dubby and balearic in the tone, flavored and contrasted with little bits of darkness and tension in the background. As the name suggests it, the sexiness is in every note, the erotic male voice is floating all over it, surfing on waves of endless reverb and delay. Throughout being anchored with clear hints from the 80ties and 90ties, this 35 minutes oeuvre still keeps full modernity in its form. DJ-friendly, it’s also an excellent overall listening experience to enjoy from beginning to end while sipping a fancy cocktail somewhere out in a cosmic dreamland. 
Don’t miss this joint, it might be one of the highlights of the year.

“Perdu !!” is a computer-animated film by Baptiste Le Chapelain Trivier aka Apulati Bien (BE) and Stanislas Paruzel (FR). Guided by a narrative thread woven from visions and a series of visual and sound experiments, the film follows the journey of a character facing himself and trying to find his way through unknown and deserted landscapes. Both an existentialist tale and a fantastic adventure, “Perdu !!” guides and loses us through the encounter with strange characters and intertwined spaces.

A kind word, a supporting comment, the feeling of sisterhood. »Amplification« might be a kitschy story about pushing through the dark into the light, side by side. Taking their personal friendship as the starting point of exploration Belia Winnewisser (NO) and Subrihanna (DE) found contrary motifs to actually complementing each other. Noise and harmony, the animate and the inanimate, sound and image. The attempt to join opposites to create a new kind of space.
 
In a first chapter repetitively morphing yet evolving pictures form an otherworldly landscape in a cosmos of spherical tones, noise and cut up voices. Chapter two introduces beat, dark, energetic sound and an insect-like plant, unable to fly, trapped by its own roots on a rock. A dreamy interlude connects into a different kind of world that opens up in soft pastels, reverb and harmony.
 
Laking a decryptable storyline »Amplification« leaves lots of room for feelings and associations instead. Maybe it’s a love letter to friendship, maybe a reminder that so many things are coexisting at the same time, maybe a call to built alliances or anything in between.
