For Futurepast's next Outsiders show, they're very excited to feature the rather special Astral VIP trio. Collective of three friends whose musical idiosyncrasies aligned all over the genre map, with very keen ears and skilled hands, for the occasion the trio selected for Futurepast a 2hr bouncy cut from their memorable summer all night long at 90mil.

From a 16hr recording - because they simply don’t know when to, and won’t stop - they picked here a section that’s absolutely bumpin, for our own delight.

Layne aka Rachel Aiello composes field recordings, abstract auditory textures, and rhythmic concrète churns into hypnotic aural terrains, evoking the spirit of her seminal female forebears in experimental electronics. Working with luminaries like Suzanne Ciani, she seamlessly bridges past and future through innovation, such as designing her own Korg Berlin’s Acoustic Synthesis Phase 8.

The set she crafted is a journey through a retro-futuristic soundscape, where minimal wave aesthetics merged with distorted textures and ritualistic undertones. Starting with hypnotic rhythms and haunting vocals, Layne gradually built an intense, chaotic energy—layering nostalgic melodies  and distorted beats to deliver a cathartic, immersive experience.

Guided by a clear vision, he reimagines his influences into a bold experimentation. The resulting soundscape is both cinematic and visceral, blending his influences—ranging from the raw energy of Deli Girls to the cinematic tension of Kinzua—into a complex and yet cohesive narrative.

Developing her style from age 17 in the squats and industrial spaces of Basel, @timnah-sommerfeldt’s warm, reverberating techno cuts span the genre and beyond. Through residencies at Hinterhof Bar and (nowadays) Elysia and her monthly radio show "Home" on Radio Ghost Town (which she co-hosts with @garcon), Sommerfeldt’s sets effortlessly transcend elements of electro, techno and house music, featuring strong emotional narratives and an intuitive understanding of dancefloor dynamics.

Her Patterns of Perception 51 is no exception, weaving sounds from across the musical spectrum into a poignant and compelling narrative that pulses with echoes of drum & bass, ambient and techno: a whole truly greater than the sum of its parts.
