With the winter solstice still weeks away in Western Europe, this is a dark time in more ways than one. Heralding from Finland, Elina Tapio is accustomed to endless nights. During the colder months in the Nordic country, the sun rises below the horizon, meaning there is little to no daylight. For this instalment of the Knekelhuis series, together with Hannah Pezzack, she presents a mix dedicated to the darkness: gothic ambient, ethereal voices, potent industrial and eerie experimentation.  

Having met in Amsterdam, the pair hold a residency on Tbilisi's Mutant Radio which airs ‘Scrying the Landscape’ – a show exploring uncanny and ecological compositions – on a bi-monthly basis. Originally from the UK, Hannah Pezzack is an editor and music journalist who has contributed liner notes to Knekelhuis, as well as to Osàre! Editions and Dekmantel. As a duo, Hannah and Elina are united by their love for spectral, sonic storytelling.

For our latest Podcast chapter, we are proud to welcome one of Czech Republic’s music scene’s most idiosyncratic personas ~ the producer, DJ and promoter ~ Dominik Knap aka Kletis 🌝

Hailing from the north-most part of the country, an area where breathtaking, dramatic nature and the remnants of industrial activity co-exist in harmony, Dominik’s music channels the deep and the melancholic and crosses boundaries between techno, ambient, drone and halftime drum & bass, coloured with influences from early dubstep and sometimes UK garage. He runs his own imprint DOLEC where he releases his own music alongside a select roster of Czech and international artists. His productions have also notably landed on the French label Accents Records and Secuencias Temporales out of Mexico. Apart from making and playing music, Kletis is a zealous event promoter, co-running a local event series Multiversum and the well-respected annual Shotgun Festival ⛰️🐾

Dominik recorded a mesmerising hybrid set for our Podcast Series, just shy of an hour, for you to dive deep into. A heady meddle of original productions, transfigured samples and found music gems, it oscillates between stillness and movement. In this journey, the drone-drenched soundscapes are the common denominator and the soil in which the percussive and tonal ideas germinate and where they grow from into their final forms. A perfect remedy for those long Autumn evenings lit by candle lights 🕯️✨

@elizawagener is a painter based in Hamburg. She is co-running HALLO: Radio, hosting regular events at Hamburg’s Golden Pudel Club and doing the monthly radioshow „L’intérieur sauvage“ at HALLO: Radio. Her radioshows have a narrative approach and often combine found spoken fragments from films and archives. Sometimes they behave as abstract investigations, other times they are simply last months diary. This one is about rural roads, a gearshift car with a white stripe on it, a song stuck in the head, cloudbursts, insects in love, waiting for sunshine, blue hours, smoke over thatched roofs, dots in green and orange, poppies on yellow fields and backseat dreaming.
