When I first played professionally, it was in my dad's quartet.  We played back in the 60's when people still danced ballroom style.  We invariably got a request for a "Peabody."  This medley was my dad's choice and the high energy has stuck with me all these years.  I finally got around to writing this big band arrangement of these two tunes written by two of the greatest modern day composers, Richard Rodgers and Cole Porter.

Lover/Just One of those Things Medley

I wrote this chart nearly 50 years ago when it was still popular and had a lot of plays on the radio, mostly when DJs needed a bathroom break.  I decided to arrange this tune for a traditional big band which was unusual at the time.  I also wrote this chart before computers and the writing of the score and the individual parts took forever, almost taking the joy our of the effort.  Now, having the opportunity to hear it again, albeit on a computer simulation, the memory of the cramped hand as dissipated and it's just about enjoying the music.  This is an updated (remixed) version which I believe is an improvement.  Y'all will be the judges.
