When Plastikman´s - "Ex" was released i got drawn to the track EXpand of the Album. When i heard it for a couple of times i noticed that there could be added something more to it and some track directly popped up in my head that i, till that moment, actually wanted to use as an intro song for my sets. That way i ended up having Gaiser´s "Way Out" in Ableton together with EXpand. The work didn't proceeded that easy as i noticed there will be a lot of detailed things to take care of as i also wanted to keep the live vibe of Richie´s track. With a lot of fine tuning i ended up adding some rhythmic elements to it myself and the planned mash up became a complex rework. As there already was some remixes around "EX" released i thought it might be the right time to present what did came out of some hours of work to have my own unique version of those to tracks.

Reaching out of the Los Angeles skyline into shimmering heat haze, Dan Sieg returns to the familiar surroundings of Mango Alley with "Submood / Klunker". Rhythmic prowess provides a strong foundation as resolute beat frames all and percussive hi-hats draw lines that cross in intricate patterns – the steel girders that bind the city together. A melodic trope flows in "Submood" – repetitive sequencing creates a seemingly simple pattern that replicates itself in ever-evolving patterns; modern architectural design faces out towards the city, its pattern playing tricks of perspective in the consciousness of passers-by. Innovation supplies the mechanical underpinnings of "Klunker" as jagged edges and synth lines that cut like arc-welders into the sonic infrastructure. "From the clubs of his adopted home country and a residency at "Pacha Ibiza Dubai," Indian born Ejaz Ahamed has been at the forefront of the Middle East's underground dance scene. Performing across the region, support slots for Digweed, Cattaneo and Bodzin have catapulted Ahamed onto a global stage. A production career that began in March 2017 with a remix of Maurice Caron for PHW Elements has since seen him feature on the likes of BC2, Particles and Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital. 

Two previous appearances on Yin remixing Erdi Irmak and Andrea Cassino are now followed by a third as the instantly familiar vocal cuts and bass prowess of "Another Side" are treated to an intricate rhythmic framework and grooved bassline. The sumptuous melodic arrangement of the original sits further back in the Ejaz Ahamed mix, but a deliciously stripped back breakdown gives them room to breathe before the driving rhythm and bass hit their stride in the third movement."

XYZ is thrilled to present a new concept for a release. Producers are the backbone of a label; developing supportive and genuine relationships with our artists is the core principle of XYZ's development.

Our Oppo series is an ode to the figures that we feel are at the foundation of the label's journey thus far. Nobody fits this bill better than Hosini - the Swedish starlet has been with us since day one, presenting Flyga and the enigmatic Soul Search EP. His stunning sound has been the basis of our exploration into deep and melodic forms, setting the standard for XYZ from the get-go.

Oppo gives full creative control to the producer, who essentially functions as the label head for this premiere release.
