After the success of APLMINI001 comes the second EP by Kisk with his friends. The first track is a classic jazzy at low speed. Kisk and Sarp Yilmaz present their new project: WOMO! The label owner consolidates its friendship with Sarp, coining a new aka that soon will talk about themselves. The second track offers a delicious deep house, full of twists and turns, where 'meeting with the producer greek, Fog, gives life to a classic track that you can listen to only the most prestigious clubs.

On the shores of Te Moana-a-Toi, where the Bay of Plenty kissed the city of Tauranga, a pair of friends, kindred spirits bound by rhythm and melody, found inspiration in the whispers of the sea breeze and the laughter of the sunlit waves. These two, Groundhog, were purveyors of groove. One morning, as the first lights danced across the water, they stood atop Mauao, the sacred mountain overlooking their hometown. The air was alive with energy, as if the earth itself hummed in anticipation of what was to come. It was there, under the glow of the rising sun, that inspiration struck. The first melody emerged full of promise. They called it “Be The One” and it captured the belief that every step forward was a chance to be someone’s light. Later, as they wandered through the bustling markets of Tauranga, the vibrant energy of the people ignited their imagination. This became the soul of “What’s That”, a playful groove infused with funky beats that seemed to ask a question without ever needing an answer. A celebration of curiosity. As the day turned to twilight, the hum of the ocean and the glow of the moon inspired the final “Chandeliers”. This track was their homage to the night, to moments of intimacy and wonder shared under a canopy of glittering lights. With the three tracks complete, Groundhog knew they had captured the spirit of Tauranga, the energy of rebirth, the thrill of discovery and the quiet magic of connection. They called their creation Be The One EP, a sonic invitation for the world to step out with open hearts and moving feet. On March 28 2025, as spring unfolds in the Northern Hemisphere, you will hear what Te Moana-a-Toi has whispered to these two souls. From the shores of the Bay of Plenty to dance floors everywhere, the Be The One EP is ready to bloom, one beat at a time, on Apparel Music.

Groundhog - Be The One

Transitioning from the successful 2 Years EP (O Sótão Records, 2023), Tiago Fonseca became an up and coming Producer and DJ based between Lisbon and Porto. On the back of gigs at some of the best clubs in the country, he also transitions from Tiago A.F. to TGZ (sounding Tigz) as his moniker for what’s to come ahead. Long Shape, his latest project, is O Sótão’s first vinyl release, and the first to be delivered with higher standards of professionalism. Learning the trade, the processes, the timeframes, the costs, and having just completed 10 years of existence. A good time to go a bit deeper.

A sonic journey rooted in origins, history, and the interconnectedness of humanity, BAOBAB is a five-track EP inspired by Mambele’s 2024 trip to Senegal. Blending ambient textures, hip-hop beats, house grooves, and reggae warmth, this project channels the spirit of Africa while embracing a global sound. The closing track, Kimia, is a deeply personal tribute, produced alongside Lola G for their newborn daughter, enriched by the soulful vocals of Dhazed and Spataro’s expressive wind instrumentation.

Created in partnership with Sheffield songwriter wolf peaches, Cornwall’s Kerrier Collective return to Colour and Pitch with two brand new tracks: ‘Rotten Fingers’ and ‘Fake Silence’. Slo-mo Deep House cut ‘Rotten Fingers’ was originally released by wolf peaches and producer Robin Grey as a downtempo song (it’s well worth seeking out).

Web Web with their sixth album in seven years and with a new touch. More psychedelic, sometimes more krauty than before. This time, WEB WEB in their original line - up (without Max Herre) have (again) chosen a special guest: JJ Whitefield (The Poets Of Rhythm / Karl Hector & The Malcouns / Syrup), who contributes the fantastic guitar sound. His riffs are sometimes funky as with the Poets Of Rhythm or Syrup, or more psychedelic as with Karl Hector & The Malcouns or his many live and studio recordings with Embryo. The sound color of his guitar gives the album the thrust into the wonderful atmosphere of spacey jazz - kraut bands of the seventies.

APPAREL PREMIERE: Web Web - Nyx [Compost]

Following the critical acclaim of their self-titled debut EP, praised by the likes of scene figures such as Gilles Peterson, Lefto, Laurent Garnier, Kevin Beadle, Pat Steel or Shy One, the Marseilles quartet Angles Morts is back with a four-track EP reflecting further growth in their sound. Drawing on the idea of itinerancy inspired by their wanderings on the roads of southern France, the project showcases a stunning soundscape, filled with the hypnotic textures provided by their arsenal of synths including Prophet Rev-2, Roland Alpha Juno 1, Emu-Orbit and Nord Lead A1. With its racing bass line, syncopated chords and dusty drums, the opening track “Macadam Freak” is a superb statement of the band's sound, concluding with a dreamlike saxophone solo by Matthieu Fabre.

Malcolm Mitchell’s Global Warming Records is a self-proclaimed outlet for “discoholics” and multi-cultural geeks. The three projects they’ve released are a collection of songs emanating a cosmic, often tribal, synth heavy analog disco sound. The latest release from Marseille based producer Fred Berthet (aka. DJ STEEF), an old time friend of the label and major artist of the downtempo scene in the South of France, fits a similar mold. The EP, similar to its artwork, is filled with a slow, sexual tension heightened by slow, driving rhythms and hypnotic acid bass lines.

Included in the EP is a remix from Italian balearic duo, Mushrooms Project (Giorgio Giri and Marco Lentano), who have crafted a superbly organic and deeply drugged out mid tempo burner that seems to call on numerous Ibiza sunrises for inspiration. Freaky, mesmerizing synth work take the listener on a trip to acid islands where steady bass permeates through thick fog over glistening percussive sequences. Its driving rhythms make the track feel faster than it is. This is a much appreciated form of trickery in down-tempo productions. Slow burners that make you dance hard are not easy to make.

Having established a handful of renowned imprints such as Rekids, Pyramids Of Mars, Cabin Fever and The Double R, Matt Edwards’ new venture aims to shine a light on classic tracks that didn’t always get the recognition they deserve.

“Amoon [Sir Lord Comixx] and I go back a long way and we met through our friend Justin [Isonoe] in the early 90s,” says Matt Edwards. “I was still living in Catford and would regularly drive over to Justin’s studio where he'd play me all this crazy, otherworldly music from Amoon and it blew my mind - I was completely captivated by his unique take on techno.”

“At the time I had no idea that we grew up in the same neighbourhood and Amoon was living just around the corner so, of course, we hooked up and in 1996 I released an EP from him including one of his classics ‘UR My Omen’ on my Hard Up label.”

Composed of four tracks from separate releases, ‘Retroactive (Part One)’ inaugurates with ‘1 4 The Groove’ from Sir Lord Comixx’s ‘Danceteria EP’ on Ugly Music. Produced in ’96, the track’s raw aesthetic features sharp percussion, heady melodies and a compelling groove. Meanwhile, ‘Enemax’ – which appeared on 1A Records - demonstrates throbbing synths and shuffling drums.

Originally produced under his a.Moon moniker in ‘98, ‘Funk Box’ is the most robust track on the package with its thudding kicks and assortment of meandering sounds, before the ‘Azid Jazz’ provides a deep and funky finale.
