The call of the night welcomed her home. She had ran for thousands of miles by day across the dandy dunes and the grassy plains but something always ensured she returned to her place of rest. "Ducue" echoed out across the night as the stars sparkled in a hazy glow up above. The sky was a pitch, deep black but it was not threatening like it once had been. Now it was still, peaceful and dreamy. Half the world was asleep whilst another roared and rioted. This was far away. 

Love Letters is an artist whom we have supported previously on Ransom Note, an interesting up and comer with a distinct sound reminiscent of the days when house was... better. Yeah, we said it. Anyway, here is a new track on Yield Records, listen to "Ducue".

Disco Segreta announces DS M 006 official repress of 1984 italo-boogie track “Tobago” by Pat&Pats.

Ever dreamt to travel to Trinidad&Tobago? 
Disco Segreta makes this dream come true with its 6th release: the much awaited officially licensed reissue of this tropicalo-disco synth bass boogie atomic bomb, from the original analog masters.

Written in late 1983 by Mario Baldoni aka Miro (of “Real Life Games” LP (1977) and Brina’s “Stranamore” (1984) 7” fame), was originally released in July 1984 on the small Pineapple label  – a sublabel of Armando Sciascia’s “Vedette” – with close to no success and a pressing fault: a glitch on the vocal verse of the instrumental version, that affected all copies.
This tropical summerish blend of italo and boogie, along with the male/female alternate spanish/english singing, turned into a true classic of the genre over the years, slowly making the playlists of the most respected DJs and diggers worldwide. 

The 4-tracks 12" features the original vocal and instrumental versions in their original lenght, carefully dubbed from the analog stereo masters and taken back to new life through Disco Segreta’s usual respectful mastering. Also, two new remixes are featured.

“Miro’s Piano Paradise” on A2, is the truly unique chance of a new revamped version by the track original author, resulting in a balearic-infused mellow rework, inspired to 1989-1993 italian house era, whose key elements were – among others - repeated melodic piano chord progressions alongside lustful female vocals and the blueprint factory presets sounds of the likes of KORG M1, Roland TB-909, and D50.
Flipside sees on B2 the chiefs of Berlin’s “Oscillator” and “Dancing for Mental Health” parties, Tom Bolas & Andrea Dama, working with their “Bolas&Dama Dub”, a contemporary rendition of a possible “Dub” version of Tobago.

The unsigned series continues with the fourth instalment of producers we dig that are looking to find a home for their music. We've been checking in with some of the producers who have graced the series thus far to see if there are any updates. Both they and we are super happy about the reception that our unsigned series has received and the comments about the music (both public and private) have been overwhelmingly positive. There have been a few minor inquiries made to the artists so far, but we want to further encourage our label and artist friends to get in touch with them if you're liking what you're hearing and hopefully sign some of their yet unheard productions!

NATIVE RED

Warm greetings from Russia’s northern capital Saint Petersburg, I am Andrei, a producer and DJ.
Beyond my own production, I am taking part in nu disco project Gradient Logic and live-oriented dark disco project The Skaars Duo.
In a variety of my musical preferences, I always enjoyed listening to disco of 70s and 80s, that’s why Native Red was born as my new side-project for the heart and soul, delivering rare edits of compositions I grew fond of, driven by boogie vibes of that epoch. I adore the melodious harmony and creativity of this music, and I am delighted to give it a second life, along with revealing its multiple forms to today’s listeners.
Recently the Violette Szabo label released EP Equilibrium with two compositions of Native Red and two tracks of Gradient Logic – the disc clearly exposes the diversity of non-trivial music of that time.
I welcome everyone to check out my new production. Heavy 64 is a groovy, deep bass track full of stringed instruments and analogue synthesizers.

Two of Finland's finest combine on this new downtempo gem for @suol's weekly 'Hallo Montag' release series that runs alongside their Monday afternoon/evening (only in Berlin, right?) party of the same name at IPSE. This languid groove channels a Balearic vibe with loose synth undulations, discordant wind melodies, solemn vox synths and a general hazy ambience that make it a weird and wonderful winner.

Alex ‘Kiwi’ Warren’s passion for music has been a fire that has long burned within. From humble beginnings as an in-house photographer for the world-famous DURRR club-night, started by Erol Alkan’s much celebrated Trash team, to the runaway success of his own club nights, it’s his prolific productions and genre blending extended dj sets that are now catapulting him into the spotlight .
Warren’s success as a one-man promotions company, cultivating his ever popular club-night, Orlando Boom and its disco-focussed sister night, Kate Boss, caught the attention of The Columbo Group who swiftly appointed him as their booking and promotions manager for The Nest.

Kiwi soon realised that he had more to offer than just his promoter skills and he began to channel his energy into playing and creating music. Releases on Days of Being Wild, Jack Savidge and Edwin Congreave’s highly acclaimed Deep Shit, DFTD, Optimo, Moda Black, Sneaky Music and Virgin EMI followed, and in 2015, his track Short Tail was nominated for Song Of The Year at the DJ Mag Best Of British awards. He’s produced an abundance of remixes for high-profile artists such as; Who Made Who, Locassolus, Paramida, Is Tropical, The Klaxons and more. This incredible output has earned him a wealth of support from some of the scenes biggest names including; Andrew Weatherall, DJ Harvey, Gerd Janson, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Optimo, Rob da Bank, Annie Mac and Skream.

2017 saw the release of his Orca EP on Bristol’s Futureboogie imprint with the title track receiving rave reviews in Mixmag and topping the dance charts on Juno and Beatport for seven weeks. This was swiftly followed by releases on Dusky’s 17 steps, and a vinyl-only release alongside Joakim on DJ Tennis’ Life and Death. As well as being busy in the studio, Kiwi has also been out on the road touring Asia twice, North America and Europe. Add to that a packed festival season and holding down his residency at XOYO in London, Kiwi has carved out a name for himself with his all night long DJ sets that effortlessly blend balearic, disco, house, Detroit techno and everything in between.

2018 was a big one for the DJ Mag nominee, with a string of releases gaining notoriety on the likes of Moscoman’s Disco Halal and a new one for 17 Steps, as well as a return to Correspondent and releases on Cin Cin and Needwant to come.

2019 marked a pivotal milestone in Alex’s career. In April, he launched his brand new imprint Crossbreed, with the inaugural CRBD01 released in conjunction with Italy’s finest export DJ Rocca. The ethos of the label is the notion that working together breeds great things, and it is not hard to see this belief in the debut EP.

Having made a strong start with the first three collaborative releases, the label continues into 2020 as a mouthpiece to showcase records that represent Alex’s ideas; and with a knack for selecting off-kilter, leftfield releases, Crossbreed is set to make impressive waves within the electronic music scene.
