Feels to me like some jaunt through some 70s pagan-medieval Wicker Man-type settlement in an alternate universe. That was the guiding "sonic theme" that inspired me throughout these, maybe a touch of early Mike Oldfield too. Lots of changes in a Brian Wilson-way to show how Newmello II can be used to craft dynamic arrangements.

Newmello II | TORLEY - Fifth World Market

Newmello II took me back in time to the early waves of progressive rock and new age music, drawing from a history of classical/baroque counterpoint. Features the Upright Piano and Upright Bass as they play their melody lines and other "friends" get introduced along the way. This was so fun to make, layering line after line! I had a spine-chilling moment when I introduced the Distorted Guitar @ 1:20. Even without drums, it sounds very punchy and driving.

I also sort of had an oblique, but not direct Boards of Canada or It Follows vibe when working on these — a question of selective memory recalling the best bits from one's childhood, hope mixed with fear. This track also features Upright Piano and Upright Bass. The name is in reference to the Shirley Jackson story, a thing of victory and dread. When you come across a small town and it seems happy but there all is not what it seems.
