Fort Romeau's Cin Cin Records continues to go from strength-to-strength and for the label's 8th release the label has laid on a divine doubleheader from Melbourne's STATUE and Ara Koufax, and we're really excited to premiering Koufax's 'Natural States'.

Australian duo Ara Koufax (Luke Neher & Sam Gill) have been making club-facing house since 2014, introducing their new project with 'Brenda', which appeared on the Cut Copy-curated compilation 'Oceans Apart'.

The Australian duo are back with two new tracks on Fort Romeau's Cin Cin Records.

 'Natural States' is a playful cut of psychedelic acid house, which features a smorgasbord of jittery stabs, thickly set kicks and plenty of gloopy basslines for you to really get lost in.

"When we were making ‘Natural States’, we kept laughing and asking each other “Is this a bit much?” and head-banging while recording all the parts. It’s a loving tribute to the intersection of Serious Club Music and the deliberately obnoxious," explains the duo to DJ Mag via email.

Lobster returns to it's scorched earth roots with a dark, gritty blend of techno-based power traxx from New York staple Heidi Sabertooth.

Tracks scraped from the surface of the NY underground. Proper hardware jams with a raw, scorched edge!

Eyes Are Watching combines punched kicks, squelched synths and pitched-down grunting mosh vox. The mood then lightens a touch for the hypnotic, dusty hardware workout Non Such. Jackin' Chitown vibes peppered with plucked & arp'd synths.

On the flip Makin Cutz is pure can-recorded techno. Overdrive-central in a caged industrial basement. Detuned acid & raw af hammering drum programming. Then for the finishing move, Weeding Through Distortion adds some off-club IDM-tinged sonic flavour to proceedings. Echoes of early Warp (think elements of Autechre live in Wakefield in the early 90's) shot through with some hard US noise processing. A tough, melodic gem.

A very solid carefully crafted 3 tracker is coming from FREE.D. A full of feelings journey with sometimes unexpected vibes and may be more underground than usually FREE.D produces but still with so many interesting details that make you wonder with a power of sound.

FREE.D comments that he just felt like this those days: a bit darker mood with some unsure perspectives and the music was the only way to clear the mind. As we suppose 2 tracks from this Hawkeye EP are the part of future album that he is developing these days. So what really stands out here is "Sequoia Galloping" with its unusual structure and really interesting technique behind the beat. 

"Cowboys After All" is a wired breakbeat track with some wild vocals - a guy is literally chewing a gum - just like we saw in our favourite western movies. And "Solo Trail" surprises with a deep atmosphere and then some high freq sounds are just taking you out from it - great combination. Taking that journey for sure is a step to another mood that you currently have - that's 100%% about Hawkeye EP. The Lift!

Markus Borkowski also known as Fan Boy is label boss, DJ and producer with Polish roots.
Already as a young adolescent he was in love with electronic music. His electronic love started in the genre Trance. Over the years his intensity increased to playful and even harder beats. So it was pure formality for him to fox his way into the genres Tech House and Techno.
What started with DJing in the regional clubs, he continued in the studio and established himself as a producer. First own releases found fast approval on various labels. After he noticed that hanging up and producing are not everything, he founded his own label. On his label you can find everything from regional newcomers to "old hands". Supporting newcomers is a matter of pure honour for the experienced music lover!

3 QUESTIONS to APARDE:

Q: Going into your mix shows some special roots from different genres. What do these tracks mean to you now?

A: Each of this tracks had a great impact to me and is an all time favourite of mine. Like the first track Deftones - "Drive" I was listening to at the age of 16. I usesd the acoustic version because it fits better into the mix. I remember after I had listen to Aphex Twin - "Vordhosbn" and Extrawelt - "8000" my stylistic in electronic music has found a kind of direction.

Q: How would you describe your development as an electronic artists, from the roots until today?

A: In the first years of producing my music was very experimental. I produced in different genres but I was always more driven by the electronic stylistic. Now my music is more conceptional and more specific. And of course, I'm allowed to play my music in front of many people and being a part of a great community at Ki Records.

Q: You recently released your album "Hands Rest" on your homebase label Ki Records. Whats the story behind and which interesting projects are coming next?

A: The album is a summary of 2018 wich was a very difficult time for me. The title track is about to stop all activities for some time to regenerate. Its also about continue doing what you want to do. I'm very looking forward to the release of the remixes of my new Album „Hands Rest“ – a remix from Lusine for example! I also worked on a remix for Vimala and Wallis Bird, which will come out soon.

After a solid education in multiple classical instruments and drums Matthias Schuell took an 
unlikely choice to enter the electronic scene as a producer, DJ and live act. Since January 2019 he concentrates on his more and more growing solo career. Always keeping an energetic vibe in his productions he tries out different tempos and styles and creates music with a broad portfolio of sounds and instruments. 

In his powerful live sets he uses his talent to support his music with live drums and piano elements. 

His first EP „Scarabaeus“ in June 2018 on Niconé's imprint Dantze was played by Joris Voorn, 
Artbat, Animal Picnic, Moonwalk and many more and quickly took the pole position to become the number one song of the Dantze label on Beatport. His EP „Hoodoo“ on Einmusika in May 2019 chartet in 
the Beatport Top 10 Releases in the genres „Techno“ and „Melodic House & Techno“ for several weeks. Since 2018 he holds a residency and works as the labelmanager at the Ritter Butzke Club Berlin.
