Mixing since 1999, he started his production career in 2006. His musical style oscillates between Techno & Hard-techno, Insane & Industrial .

Neck plays in many Clubs , Parties & Festivals in France, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands , Scotland, Spain... with several DJ's like Torsten Kanzler, BMG, The Proxy, Arkus P ,Pet Duo, Viper XXL, Mahatma, Minupren, Reche & Recall, Canibal Cooking , Candy Cox, OBI , Lukas , Fernanda Martins , Space Djs , Manu Kenton, Drops, Ghost, Mark with a K, Jamie Dill, Frank Biazzi, Stephan Strube, HS, Qic and many more...

His first track “Hydrogene” was released in 2007 on Skanky Rec & Strukture Records and was compiled on many CDs & Digital compilations ....

At the moment, Neck releases his productions in labels such as KILLAZ ERROR / EGO PLASTIX / KENTEK / STRUKTURE / CHEMIKAL BEATZ / RAGE & ERROR / RAWNUTS / GHETTOMANIA / ROGUE / 4TEK / BABAORUM / BANGING RECORDS / GHOSTSYLE / MINUPREN RECORD...

His productions are played by the greatest artists all around the world & you can find them in all good Vinyl & digital shops.

Ethan Smith was born in 1984 in the North of France.
He was always been passionate for music and in particular by the techno sounds.

In 2006, he began to Mix for the first time..

He discovered his passion, at the rhythm of electronic music in the legendary Lagoa club.


Influenced by DJs and producers such as Manu Kenton, Jamie Dill, Torsten Kanzler or
Dj Rush,he began to compose style Hardtechno, Frenchtek  in 2012.

In 2013 he released is first EP "Strictness" on the Label Banging Records.

Then in late 2013, he created his Label: Protokol Records, many artists sign on this label as Jack Ostin Jim Raley, Loudness War, Stephan Strube, DJ Drops ...

Alex is the do it yourself man in terms of audio electronic, always searching for new sound he is
creating hardware audio units since his early youth. By his passion for electronic it is not far away to
electronic music, as techno came to his ear for the first time he was flashed by the new sound. That
should be the music he his living for. So he bought the first techno records and started as dj and
promoter of techno events in his home country in the early 90ies. But this was not the beginning of his
dj career at all, already during his school time Alex served the good sound from two cassette decks.
The sets have been influenced by the most important electronic music bands of the 80ies. For
example Depeche Mode, Yello…
In 2006 it was time for an own label: 9Volt-Musik is a platform for the kind of music that he calls freaky
techno, a sound between straight, groovy and funky beats with lots of crazy elements and ideas. Not
only for one genre of techno, it is open for different stuff but it should have something special.
This year the label celebrates the 30th release on vinyl. More information you can find at the
homepage www.9volt.de and on soundcloud, facebook and other sources of the internet of course.
During the years Alex changed the dj more and more to a live artist, mostly performing live solo or with
the project Cannibal Cooking Club, founded together with Error in 1999.
Since some years he is offering mastering for vinyl and digital. Focussed on the individual wishes of
the labels/artists to make the best of the tracks in a creative way.
