A tribute to one of the most outspoken and brilliant comedian who wanted the truth to be exposed. Bill Hicks 1961-1994.

The world is like a ride at an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it, you think it's real, cause that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round; it has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud and it's fun... for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: "Is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, and they say, "Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid - EVER - because... this is just a ride." And we... KILL those people. "Shut him up! We have a lot invested in this ride - SHUT HIM UP! Look at my furrows of worry! Look at my big bank account, and my family! This just HAS to be real!" It's just a ride. And we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter because... it's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride: Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defense each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over - not one human being excluded - and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

Akufen - It's Just A Ride (To Bill Hicks memory)

Still a wonky ride on Demas’ beats.
We passed the first 20 years of the label Klangscheiben and we keep on going
to run the label. The first release on Klangscheiben, which was available in all
download-shops, was made by Demas. So, we thought it would be a must to
start the next 20 years again with a release from him.
The tracks took a long time to shape this EP. It was a back and forth with his
computer and his modular system. Soutine added a space-tribal-groove-kind-
of-remix to it. Perfectly done!
A lot of things changed over the past 20 years, but the signature sound of him
and the label did not change at all.
So have a seat and enjoy the ride into year 21.
To say it with the words of the first release written by Jan Weigel:
“Intelligent music that will find it´s home on dancefloors of high quality.”

POOLcast 032 - Ditch

Summer POOLcast number two. For 032 we have invited Ditch from Japan, who currently lives in Berlin. Ditch is a long time member of the electronic music scene, with release on label as minibar, microcosm, kalimari to mention a few. His music currently employs modular experiments and jazz progressions embedded in minimalist ambiences.

For POOLcast Ditch provided us a recording in tribute to jazz. Fieldtextures and soundscapes serving as a foundation which he paired with brushed percussions and plucked synth sounds. Enjoy.

I premiered my new improvised performance "Prologue", 
which is based on 3 synthesizers with 4 oscilators each, 3 of which tuned in octaves, plus an extra channel for modulations and 3 effect channels with delays and distortion.

Seit Sommer 2004 betreibt das Liebhaberlabel Klangscheiben - Records seine Geschäfte mit Hingabe zum Minifunk mit maximaler Wirkung. Zuerst gestartet als Tollplatz für Groove- Gespinste im Sounddesign von Labelowner Demas, erweiterte sich das Artistraster zusehends. Seitdem ist weltweit viel minimales Wasser die Täler hinabgeflossen – die Talsperren drohten zu überfluten... Nicht so die Staudämme im beschaulichen Steinach in Thüringen, denn finest Selection mit anspruchsvoller elektronischer Körpermusik statt Peaktime - Überschwemmung ist angesagt. Ohne sich auf eine Richtung festzulegen flankiert man zwischen den Stilen House und Techno mit funky Kick und experimenteller Note.

Since summer 2004 the aficionado label Klangscheiben - Records runs its business with dedication to the mini-funk with maximum effect. First started as a rumpling place for groove chimera in the sound-design of label-owner demas, the artist grid expanded appreciably. Since then much minimal water flowed down the valleys worldwide - the dams threaten to flood… But not the dams in the tranquil little city Steinach in Thuringia, because finest selection with sophisticated electronic body-music instead of peak-time flooding is announced. Without committing to a direction the label flanked between the styles of house and techno with a funky thrill and experimental note.
