First in the TRUST XY recombination series. /DL/MS/, Keith Tucker, The Exaltics, and Privacy remix DJ Glow, Microthol, DJ Stingray, and VC-118A.

"Crises invite introspection. To counter the social and cultural void of 2020 we have asked friends and favorite artists to analyze, extract and recombine our electric DNA for the TRUST XY recombination series.

DJ Glow’s (@gl03) ‘The City’ opened the first TRUST release back in 1998 and starts off XY.1 as well. Viennese duo /DL/MS/ (@dl-ms), whose album debut will drop on TRUST later this year, turns its brittle lo-fi funk into an airy electro stepper, complete with the original’s classic arcade samples.

Keith Tucker needs no introduction as a Detroit techno master, from early Direct Beat to this year's Optic Nerve album for Axis Records. Microthol (@microthol) remixed his ‘Plastic People’ back in 2003, and he returns the favor with a slamming electrofunk take on ‘Binary Systems’ (TRUST18).

Two masked electro heavyweights and TRUST alumni meet on side B, with The Exaltics (@the-exaltics) reshaping DJ Stingray’s (@djstingrayofficial) ‘Herd Instinct’ from TRUST20. Sherard Ingram’s unmistakably lightfooted beats are paired with a propulsive bassline and seductive synths of The Exaltics’ design.

With Privacy (@privacyprivacy) we have shared DJ booths, bunk beds and hangovers, and we are very happy to welcome him to TRUST at last. He chose to deconstruct ‘Eha’ off VC-118A’s (@mohlao) debut EP (TRUST22). Always one to gleefully sidestep expectations he winds down the original’s sparse electro dub into a foreboding doomsday hip hop instrumental.

Future parts of the XY recombination series will feature remixes by Ultradyne, Peter Mannerfelt, Alex Cortex, Clatterbox, Stenny, D.Tiffany, Microthol, Second Storey, DJ Di’jital, Luxus Varta, and more."

True Color Records is back in 2017 and to start the year properly it introduces the first volume of “The Sound Of True Color”, a series of compilations aimed to gather collaborations of artists within the label itself.   

Introduced by 7th Sense, this first issue includes collabs with Chawer and Mow Kalma, and two remixes of “Be True”, original track of 7th Sense and Blackout Ja, now remixed by both PrimeBassound and Abstract People. 

Oscillating between Halftime and Footwork, this EP presents four pieces that show the diversity of the True Color’s sound. “Miklo’s Dub” is the first track, produced in complicity with Mexican producer settled in Barcelona, Chawer. A minimal cut piece in which the 808 kicks creatively makes the groove on the bassline.

Second track is another collab, this time with Colombian producer Mow Kalma. “Medellín Sunset” combines Footwork and Soul to create the perfect sonorous landscape to take you back to the streets of Medellín. 

And last but not least, we have two new versions of “Be True”, where the only common elements on both tracks, are the  characteristic vocals of Blackout Ja and it’s potential for the dancefloor, other than that, a very unique approach on two new versions of it. 

In general, a release that shows the true colours of the producers involved and True Color’s true sound.
