David Sylvian's voice bears such a calmly forceful cadence, full of carefully enunciated words that trail off into a pristine nasal murmur, that he can dart between genres and surface with music positioned resolutely in his own sound world. The former Japan singer has spent a great deal of time reflecting on his solo output in recent times. In 2010 he released a retrospective of his non-album collaborative work, Sleepwalkers. If that record was a treat for fans, A Victim of Stars feels like a crack opening in the door for anyone left behind, a way to get a feel for Sylvian's far-reaching mood swings since Japan disbanded in 1982. It's neatly ordered, beginning with a hint of the early trappings of his solo career via a version of his former band's "Ghosts"; taking in a smattering of material from his full-length albums; and closing with a new song bearing a title that summarizes the divisive areas of exploration that break-up his career arc: "Where's Your Gravity?"

In the year 1997, Nickodemus & Jay B met through friend & music fanatic Eddy Plenty. At the time, Nickodemus was DJ'ing at Organic Grooves & Giant Step parties & experimenting with sampling from his record collection from around the World. Jay B was writing music & experimenting with the latest in computer programming software. Their shared love for fat beats of soul, funk, trip hop, jazz from around the World was the common ground that made for a quick music making synergy. In the 1st year working together, they managed to make the following songs as well as a few remixes & unreleased beats that never made it off of the DAT recorder. We hope you enjoy these songs from the Brooklyn Beat Cave in 1997.

  @Unjin is a leader of the Korean techno scene. Founder of the ECI label and Club Vurt, Unjin has been performing and releasing music since the mid-90s. His collaboration with Sunji sees the two exploring celestial soundscapes with a live hardware setup. Their tune for Tonal Unity is a meditative ambient trip into beatless dancefloor territory.
