Pronounced Kaa-RrrEEN (hard K, roll the R)

Armenian-American vocalist, songwriter, videographer and composer/producer KÁRYYN is a qauntum spiritual time traveler.

Following a prolific period of inward healing and creating, she readies her Calm KAOSS! EP, a work created in partnership with British record producer James Ford. The project sees KÁRYYN commune with her past, present and future selves, traveling through time to reveal transformative premonitions from the future in scientific and spiritual language.

Her debut release The QUANTA Series saw her unpack and explode her past to dizzying effect. The press dubbed her “a sonic architect” (Dazed); “an electronic adventurer” (FACT) who “makes music as a way of travel, moving through memories with sound” (CLOT Magazine). In the album’s Pitchfork review,Sasha Geffen wrote: “Death hangs heavy over the record, but in its shadow, KÁRYYN projects herself into the future.” 

With the upcoming Calm KAOSS! EP, she offers three tracks: the first offering- a plea to recognizing personal strength, wholeness, resolve, and singular consciousness through the lens of Sumerian Myth and Vedic philosophy (‘the REAL’).

I'm a self taught artist, my background includes photography, videography, technology, and business, before music.

My creative style is creating lyrics, riffs, and melodies that blow your mind, and rhythms that take you to another state of consciousness.

My foundation in music began with my favorite songwriter/composers including John Herndon "Johnny" Mercer, Burt F. Bacharach, Hal David, Enrico Nicola "Henry" Mancini, Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim, to name a few. And, my favorite performers such as James Brown, Gil Scott-Heron, America, Carlos Santana, and Bob Marley, to name a few more.

My years of listening to these and many other greats gave me a tremendous stored knowledge of music. As a result I sing, write, and compose many styles of music. This is why I do not claim a particular genre. It's also the reason I found it easy to develop my style as an indie artist, and I quickly learned to appreciate the value of creative freedom.

To me, music is something that everybody enjoys. Some music even connects us to who we are, and demonstrates our cultural traditions. As an artist, these are some of my most important values in creating music.

Absorbing the sounds of New York since her birth in Brooklyn, Tara spins a collage of soulful sounds that captures an eclectic vibe. Her sets acknowledge the past while looking to the future and celebrating the now. Tara loves nightlife, having started out as an event producer and promoter. As a member of Rare Form, she helped originate Donuts are Forever, an annual fundraiser/tribute to hip hop producer J. Dilla, as well as Makossa Brooklyn Cookout, now over 10 years strong as a beloved Brooklyn summer hang. Tara believes being a DJ is more than just playing a mix of records; it is a matter of building trust between herself and the crowd and sharing the knowledge and love she has for the music and the feelings it projects onto the listeners. The crowd trusts Tara to become part of another great night in their lives, and she returns that favor by giving them a taste of the familiar as well as something new that may be something they have never realized was needed in their musical memory
