RÊVE PARISIEN features four new Rhys Chatham compositions that were performed live at Kassay's exhibition at Art: Concept in Paris in 2010, and loosely functions as an audio catalogue to the exhibition.

RÊVE PARISIEN contains compositions that were both performed live and used as a soundtrack through Kassay’s exhibition. These compositions mark a change in direction for Chatham, who has abandoned the trumpet style he developed in the nineties for a non-distorted, less effects-driven sound that compliments his minimalist compositions and his free jazz training. The LP is packaged in a stunning gatefold with an arced die-cut cover, which was designed by Jacob Kassay in collaboration with Frank Napolski.

The sunrise sets at the Nutz camp have become something of an institution during my annual pilgrimages to Burning Man. 

As per usual they come after a number of days burnt out in the desert on sleepless nights, untold stimulants and with a mind blown from excess stimulation and inspired by being surrounded by hundreds of beautiful, passionate people. 

This year's set followed on from a fire &amp; brimstone throwdown at Opulent Temple and I loved every single minute of it, especially when the 40ft UFO-platform appeared to 'shade' the dancefloor from the heat of the morning, and when during my fifth Bloody Mary of the morning, the BBQ arrived to ply us all with a seemingly endless supply of breakfast goodies.

Heute vor einem Jahr wählte ich Musik für meinen Mix "Lebenslänglich" aus und einen Tag später ging er online. Die Auswahl folgte keiner bestimmten Logik – nur gefallen musste sie mir. Was danach geschah ist für mich heute noch unglaublich! Auch wenn Zahlen nur Schall und Rauch sind, schrieb ich wenige Wochen später ein paar davon zusammen mit wünschenswerten aber für mich völlig utopischen Zielen auf einen Zettel und legte diesen in meine Schublade.

Die Ziele wollte ich am letzten Tag des Jahres überprüfen. Ich habe nicht daran geglaubt, sie zu erreichen – geschweige denn zu übertreffen. Eingetreten ist jedoch beides. Ich blicke stolz auf das wohl ereignisreichste Jahr meines Lebens zurück und bedanke mich von ganzem Herzen!

Ich danke euch, meinen treuen Fans und Unterstützern, ich danke allen Künstlern, die mich mit ihrer Musik versorgen und mich inspirieren, ich danke allen Clubs & Veranstaltern, die es mir dieses Jahr ermöglicht haben, andere Menschen glücklich zu machen, ich danke allen neuen und alten Freunden sowie meiner Familie dafür, dass ich bin wie ich bin.

Aber besonders danke ich meiner Freundin, die mir jeden Tag zeigt, dass man alles schaffen kann, wenn man hart genug dafür arbeitet und an sich glaubt. Oft erscheinen uns Ziele zu groß und wir uns zu klein, aber in jedem von uns steckt mehr als wir denken!

WHY SHEEP?
Okay, fine, but what's with the white fluffy animals on the cover?

"The sleeve is a very very English thing. The Pink Floyd album ATOM HEART MOTHER, do you know that album? The sleeve with the cow's head on it? That's a very English thing and it has the vibe of the rave scene over here. When we're having the big Orbital raves out in the country, and you're dancing all night and then the sun would come up in the morning, and then you'd be surrounded by this English rural countryside ... so we wanted something that kind of reflected that, that feeling the day after the rave, that's what we wanted the music for.

"So when we went to the photo-library, we had a copy of ATOM HEART MOTHER under our arms, and we went in: 'Okay, we want a picture of sheep, like this.' They didn't have any pictures of sheep that were like the cover of ATOM HEART MOTHER, but they had these other pictures of sheep ... hundreds, thousands of pictures of sheep, and we picked the ones we used because it had that same sort of feeling."
