Somewhere Else - esile - 21 Feb 2024

(eng. late) @p_o_z_n_o an audiovisual collective specializing in organizing intimate, multisensory ambient events, was invited by @holyld . With their actions, they intend to blur the boundaries between a concert, a club set and an artistic performance, creating an atmosphere enabling the free experience of every type of sensitivity without strictly imposed rules.  
The group consists of:   
- adam salamøn @adamsalamon is - electronic music producer, DJ & VJ 
- sackaanna - visual artist, VJ 
- serenitysoundseeker - DJ, VJ and promoter of electronic music  
 
Each późno event is closely related to a specific concept, and its expression reaches almost all senses. The basis of the conceptual approach is music exploring deep, ambient, experimental sounds and visuals metaphorically related to the theme. Event venues are meticulously prepared. Space is decorated with proper lighting and instalations. Even air is filled with specially composed scent for each night.  
Spatial Flood is a two chapter journey. serenitysoundseeker delivers delicacy of sounds and wide emotional spectrum with her selection, while adam salamøn blends his live improvisations and unreleased sound collages into multi-layered story.  
Spatial Flood brings emotionally what lays ahead of us - early spring with all new endeavours, fears and hopes bursting in our hearts, minds and souls. Vast and open.

Just sharing this cause i feel like it, been burned out and emotionally and physically exhausted for the past couple weeks now. Just felt like i needed to vent it out somehow. Enjoy the music.

Alternative thoughts.. vent, rant? who knows.

I didn't think Signalis as a game, and as a story would hit me like it did. After playing it, i've just had a constant hollow feeling in my chest, and seemingly nothing can quite fill it back up. It's hard to describe what was the catalyst to cause this, i truly do not know. But i know that everyday, i feel this one kind of pain.

The pain, and the story has reshaped my music, my creative direction if i can call it that even, drastically so.

It's been 3 months since i played the game through, and i still can't seem to let go of it. The feelings, very much so are still present, and honestly it's a struggle every day not to feel down. Seemingly they are weighing everything down slightly, as exhausting as it is, i do have my ups too.

Sometimes when playing organ preludes and postludes in church, I improvise on rap songs. Sometimes I start with something else (say, for example, motives based on my own interpretations of "redemption" or "jubilation" or "cupcakes") but the journey ends up, somewhere along the way, in the loopy-oriented terrain a rap song or vice versa. 

Most people listening out in the pews more often than not have no idea what sources I quote at the time (depending on who's out there, of course), but the most intriguing part of the exercise is that people of all stripes seem to like the pieces, and have said to be "moved" by them in ways unconventional and far away from a song written for, say, a club. 

There is little material intervallic and harmonic difference between a song played on the organ and a song played through a DAW after all; meaning is ultimately ascribed through timbre and context. This fact testifies to the power of a delicately placed recontextualization and is proof of an "everyday sacred"  contained in even the most deceivingly simplistic 4/4 riffs and 12-bar bass lines.
