Brighton born Producer and DJ Luke Nyeke aka El. Train is known for his ability to blend together Hip-Hop, R&B and Electronic beats with a heavy nod to the US West Coast beats scene. One of the UK scene’s brightest emerging producers he is making serious waves on both sides of the Atlantic. In the last few years El Train has released music on labels such as Kitsune, Darker Than Wax and Jakarta Records. His self released debut album 'Puzzles' was released in June 2019.

Our guest for this episode is SuperCoolDes.

SuperCoolDes is co-founder of the New York based tastemaker label ALL2GTHR and self-proclaimed „Worst Bedroom DJ Ever“.  Based in Long Island, Des started ALL2GTHR with colleague and friend Ras Diggy. Their mission: Share a NY-specific perspective on music and culture with the world.  Initially, the project incorporated live events in NY. After COVID hit, the label began expanding and branching out globally into different formats.  Today, ALL2GTHR releases edits, remixes and original productions from up-and-coming DJs and producers from all around the world and is host to several radio shows.  Through these projects, the label brings together a diverse global soundscape - all connected by a common theme: It sounds like it could shape the taste of tomorrow.

My guest for this episode is @turna_music.

Turna is a DJ/Producer from Manchester (UK), known for his edits & remixes - most notably his take on Giveon’s „Favorite Mistake“ that has garnered more than 50k SC plays and countless minutes of playtime across international radio stations and DJ sets. 

Besides remixing, Turna has been diving into original productions as of late. His debut single Oneiro/Tilia was released through his creative collective @leftandrightmcr back in April of 2021. His new single DUCKY, an uptempo exploration of 1-ABMI7 AA (the Spectrasonics sample used in Kendrick Lamar’s „Alright“), is set to be released in the near future. Paris Jones pays homage to Queens God emcee Nasir Jones aka Nasty Nas, by covering one of Nas' most beloved tracks "Made You Look" from his 2002 classic "Gods Son". The track (fully produced by Paris) takes a more boom-bap Hip Hop approach to Nas' classic. Paris balances rapping and singing Nas' lyrics, adding his own unique twist to the Queens anthem. The track also includes excerpts from one of Nas' earliest interviews after a pre-illmatic performance in NY. Paris' soul approach to "Made You Look" will definitely put you in a nostalgic or New York State of Mind, either one works.

Born, raised, and residing in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Aquarius Jay is a dual-threat Producer/Music Writer with a laundry list of sonic influences. "The Neptunes, ICYTWAT, Jermaine Dupri, 808 Mafia, Monte Booker, Pi'erre Bourne, Wondagurl, Noah 40 Shebib, Boi-1da, Lil Jon, Sounwave, DJ Mustard, Tuamie, Hit-Boy, DJ Dahi, Juicy J, DJ Paul & Mike Will Made It..." Along with his love for music, Jay's passions for creativity, writing, and Black culture are some of the key pillars that make Aquarius Jay the complete version of who he is today.

"The earliest I can remember is being a child & playing NBA Street Vol. 2. Hearing that soundtrack was one of the major catalysts to me wanting to make music. My aunt also used to play a lot of classic early 2000s R&B around me as a child. I have an older cousin who put me onto a lot of underground music and is her son. They were the main reasons why I fell in love with music. In 2013, I started my musical journey. I was given a MacBook in 9th grade by our school & it had a Garageband on it. The rest is history. I was given a cracked version of FL Studio later on by a homie. Since then it's been up."

The late, great J Dilla is widely regarded as one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time.  Since his death in 2006, Dilla’s mother Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey has worked tirelessly to further her son’s legacy, and her latest effort is the new release Motor City.  To celebrate the release, Dilla’s close friend J Rocc (a world-renown DJ and founder of the Beat Junkies)put together a series of blends featuring the newly unearthed instrumentals on Motor City.  The project hits store everywhere on 4/21/17.
