Berlin based producer @charlyschaller presents her first solo release with Second State, ‘Togians EP’. Having exploded onto today’s techno circuit with releases across esteemed labels, the launch of her ‘Realness’ event series and regular appearances at the likes of About Blank and Griessmühle, the fast-ascending producer conjures up a momentous 4 tracker for the revered Berlin label. 

Title track ‘Togians’ is a demonic cut, triggering disquiet through layers of harsh growls and foreboding keys. Schaller lets light into the darkness as the story unravels, with a phantasmic twinkling break, before monstrous atmospherics envelop you once again. Next is ‘Can’t Move’, in which Susan Riot’s voice croons hypnotically, uniting sinister drones and spiralling alarms to stir up a threatening and transfixing techno-anthem.

In ‘Television Static’ a male vocal reverberates mournfully, while a fierce energy builds subtly underneath. With stirring chord progressions leading us to an ecstatic break – the yearning voice calling out the whole while – Schaller creates a deeply emotive track that tugs on the heartstrings. The EP closes with ‘Fly Fly’: an uplifting broken beat sweeps you up into the confident care of Dani Delion, whose vocals paint thrilling pictures, encouraging you to join her in revelry and fly.

Welcome on #prospectrecords Admir Adoo Hasanbegović a techno artist, DJ & producer from Pula, Croatia with released works under labels such as Tronic, Agile Recordings, 1605, Toolroom, Pornographic Records, IAMT, Set About, Alchemy, Alleanza, and many more. His tracks are played by UMEK, Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna, Mark Knight, Joris Voorn, Julian Jeweil, Chris Liebing, Sam Paganini, Cristian Varela, Uto Karem, Stefano Noferini, and other famous artists. His music is defined by recognizable groovy bass lines perfected with strict tribalesque percussions, cunning movable rhythm sections, and sometimes dark ambient effects. Long-standing techno force @garybeck will return to Berlin’s Second State with a grooving and cerebral 4 track EP. A pillar of Scotland’s techno scene, Gary has appeared regularly at some of the globe’s most respected venues and festivals including Womb Tokyo, fabric, Output NYC and Awakenings, to name a few. 

Title track ‘Supervan’ opens with bouncing bass and rattling percussion. A chopped-up vocal is introduced and commands the track forward as it ascends, with the kick battling to harden the track over the grooving melody and anthemic keys. Next up is the spirited cut ‘Psycho Babble’. A resounding sample attempts to cry out over the jacking bass and kick combo, calling out in ecstasy at intervals of the track. A minimal hi-hat jumps throughout but retracts as the track increases tempo and gallops towards the end, where Beck incorporates breakbeat elements for the final leg. 

‘Sparks’ follows with rhythmic shakers and hi-hats juxtaposing each other under the monologue of two young punters. The conversation adds a narrative to the track as it intensifies along with a gritty buzzing element. The voices become distorted as the track builds to crescendo, with the sample and music working together in unison to unravel the story of the character’s night. The finale ‘Pink Castles’ is a pacy and hypnotic trip, conjuring up the energy of both a peak-time workout and high-tempo closer. Haunting vocals and icy synths swirl around the driving elements and atmospherics, engulfing the listener into the darkness of this finishing track.
