we’d come alive when we all took to the stage
when there were people to win over, people to persuade
we stood in the spotlight, and its shining made us brave

but the world's so full of experts so full full of critics and it seems
they’d love to drag you down love to pluck you from your dreams
but it never really mattered ‘cos we found ourselves in those beams

we put ourselves through every test
the only way to be was be our best…

as they’re passing:  the best years of our lives
