After the well-received first edition, we continue the same format, mixing old school with new school artists. We have always been open-minded with Tronic and also have a deep passion for electro. Consistently delivering quality and assured techno sounds for well over a decade now, British DJ/producer Roberto releases his debut album under the Fossil Archive moniker on Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains label.

Via his own Fossil Archive imprint, and labels such as ARTS, Radio Slave’s Rekids and Mike Dehnert’s Fachwerk, Fossil Archive aka Roberto has chalked up an arsenal of highly impressive releases that carry the torch for techno’s undiluted and original sounds.  Drawing influences from the Detroit and Dutch techno palette, ‘Tungsten’ is an album that delights on every level, transcending through a complete range of ambient sounds and heavyweight beats.

From absorbing atmospheric pieces such as ‘Clouds’, ‘Ambient Sea’ and album finale ‘Orion’, to the high velocity dancefloor tracks like ‘Mist’, ‘Deep Trenches’ and ‘Electro Beats’, there’s a well poised and coherent quality across all eleven tracks that exemplify the Fossil Archive sound aesthetic and make for a well-rounded album that will necessitate repeat listens and reward the listener aplenty.

Hailing from the Latvian capital city of Riga, electronic brothers in arms Queer On Acid have been fervent dance music devotees since the 1990s.  Born out of the LGBTQ community of which they belong to, the duo has had an impressive ascendency over the last couple of years that has included releases for Josh Wink’s Ovum Recordings, Shadow Child’s Takeout imprint, collaborating with original house vocalist & artist Robert Owens, and maintaining their burgeoning Queer On Acid record label.
 
The ‘Short Cut’ EP is the latest fruits of their labour, released on Dense & Pika’s ever consistent Kneaded Pains label.  Lead track ‘Bob’ cuts up some gnarly lead lines with an ardent rhythm and drifting atmospherics, whilst ‘C Ex’ jacks out some crunchy funk over an industrious 909 beat as waves of elated pads wash in an old school flavour.  A hypnotising percussive house rhythm, not too dissimilar to the classic ‘House Of God’ by DHS, build the foundations of ‘Not The Time’, as a raw Chi-town groove is shaped and pulverized with a seductive vocal loop.

This week's 6AM Guest Mix is supplied by Solamente’s own Sharpson, recorded from his home studio in Dublin, Ireland. 

For this mix, Sharpson blends a variety of Techno and Breaks with a constant Acid bassline throughout. Sharpson also shows off some new unreleased material, as well as some of his latest releases. It reflects a gradient of the Berlin clubbing scene and UK Rave culture.

Having grown up on the likes of The Prodigy, Underworld and The Chemical Brothers, Sharpson’s unique sound is a blend of UK 90’s Rave music, ranging from Acid, Breakbeat, House, Techno and Drum & Bass. Sharpson started DJing and producing at the young age of 14. He has garnered a name for himself through his diverse range of music productions and selections, as well as his signature sound of integrating ‘Dublin mannerisms’ into his tracks. 

His music has been released on the likes of Dirtybird, Snatch! Records, Solamente and many more. Sharpson's high quality productions have been supported by the likes of Deborah De Luca, Rebuke, Xenia, BKLAVA, DJ Gigola and have been featured on music platforms such as SiriusXFM, Ministry of Sound, Rinse FM and more.

A key resident at the legendary Club Rioma in Mexico, Gog is a DJ and producer who sculpts many different styles of house and techno and does so for outlets like Motek, Wild Wolves On Acid and InfraDig records. He has also been behind the Louder Music label since 2012 and can do everything from deep and considered warm up sets and sounds to pumping and peak time tackle. Starting out in 1998 he became well known in Mexico and is now a rising name on the world scene

Following Anna Gram's Celestial Objects EP last summer, Hammer's Remmah label dips once again into the Glasgow talent pool to present a debut release from another of its most exciting resident DJs, in collaboration with a seasoned veteran of the UK techno scene.

A name sharply on the rise, Stevie Cox recently joined legends Harri, Domenic & Telford at as resident of the club’s flagship Saturday night party, Subculture - the longest running underground weekly house night in the world.

Operating under the guises of Fossil Archive and Roberto, Robert Kirkaldy has cemented himself as a trusted name over the years; building up an impressive discography that never wavers in quality, while playing regularly at some of the most respected clubs around the world, including fabric, Berghain and Tresor.

After meeting in Summer 2021, it quickly became apparent that the pair shared a strong musical connection which effortlessly translated itself into production. A debut release for Stevie and adding to Rob’s amazing catalogue; the Daydreamer EP is a club-ready, emotionally rich four-tracker.

The Daydreamer EP opens with 'Stolen Glances' - a deep, tunnely, dub techno-esque number that pairs soft, spacey effects with punchy drums. Next is 'Searching' - full of tension and dark, acid breaks inspired by the pair’s love for drum & bass, lifted by ethereal vocals from Kiara Scuro’s ZaaZaa. 'Daydreamer' is a hypnotic, feel-good heater that sounds like it was made to be played at the legendary Sub Club in Glasgow on a Saturday night. The EP closes off with a dreamy, stripped back DJ tool edit of 'Daydreamer' which is sleepy by name and nature.

Fossil Archive, aka Roberto, readies the hard-hitting ‘Pattern Repeat EP’ this August.

Following his acclaimed debut album ‘Tungsten’ on Kneaded Pains in 2021, as well as the recent ‘3D World EP’ with Stephen Brown in April 2022, London based DJ/producer Fossil Archive, aka Roberto, returns to his label with ‘Pattern Repeat EP’, featuring four original techno tracks conveying his artistic range.

Title track ‘Pattern Repeat’ sees the UK-based producer teaming up with Kiara Scuro’s ZaaZaa, who delivers ethereal vocals across pounding kicks and squelching acid licks. ‘Bridgetown’ follows with hypnotic percussion and dubbed out FX hits for a deep tripper. ‘Follow the River’ brings pumping synths and rocking kits for a spaced-out club track before ‘Chimera’ sees Fossil Archive delivering an emotive, heads-down track custom-built for eyes closed moments on the dancefloor to close out the release.

Founded by Roberto in 2015, the Fossil Archive label has released music by artists such as Voiski, DJ Rolando, Sterac aka Steve Rachmad, Roman Lindau, Robert Owens, and many more, including Roberto himself. As a DJ, Roberto has played at the likes of fabric, Tresor, Berghain and more.

Roberto (real name: Rob Kirkaldy) is a London based Techno producer, DJ and Remixer. Considered to be one of the most exciting new UK Techno artists in recent years, he combines influences from Detroit and Amsterdam to create his own sound unique to the UK.

As a DJ, he brings a special energy to the dance floor that is the product of many years of dedication to the craft. Never one to let an audience get bored, his sets explore many angles of techno, which has seen him play at some of the most well respected clubs around the world, including fabric in London and both Tresor and Berghain in Berlin. His DJ skills have also made him a popular choice for podcasters, having been called upon to deliver mixes for esteemed shows like the CLR Podcast, Slam Radio and Electric Deluxe.

With an already impressive discography, Roberto has built his production credits with EPs on the likes of Rekids, Fachwerk, ARTS, Solar Phenomena and Obscura, as well as a host of remixes for artists like Jamie Anderson, Roberto Clementi, DJ Rolando and Shinedoe. His own tracks have been remixed by artists such as Steve Rachmad (Sterac), Mike Dehnert, Trevino and Peverelist.

At the beginning of 2015, Roberto launched his own Fossil Archive label. Predominantly a vinyl label (though releases are also available digitally), the ethos of the imprint is that it must not compromise on the sound.

As Roberto said in a recent interview with Data Transmission: “I love the fact that you can hold a piece of music in your hands. They are art pieces in their own right. Music is the product of many years of development; much like a fossil that can be buried deep underground for millions of years, until it is discovered. I wanted to ensure the music is of the highest quality, which means not rushing things.”

Coined originally as an offshoot label to Dense & Pika's self penned label, Kneaded Pains has now taken off into it’s own orbit with a slew of Techno weaponry from new and established artists alike in the shape of Mark Henning, Melody’s Enemy, ONNO, VONDA7 (et al), each release custom made to ignite those tougher leaning dance-floors.
