The British DJ/producer Roberto aka Fossil Archive has been at the vanguard of the modern British electronic scene for some time, deploying sophisticated and pure techno sounds via releases on labels such as ARTS, Radio Slave’s Rekids and Mike Dehnert’s Fachwerk.

The debut Fossil Archive album ‘Tungsten’ was released in 2021 on Kneaded Pains and was a long player that transcended through a complete range of ambient sounds and heavyweight beats. On this new single for Dense & Pika’s imprint, a brace of polished techno cuts are served up.

On ‘Valves Of Life’ a slice of hypnotic and unobtrusive techno tantalisingly unfurls, as tension building strings and spacey melodies play out, whilst on ‘The Heights Of Metropolis’, a distinct electro/Chicago house hybrid is formed, as menacing acid and cold vocals make its mark.

Uncertain drops heaving five-tracker ‘Escape’ on Rekids Special Projects this November.

Formerly known as Boriqua Tribez, Uncertain has been a driving force in electronic music for over two decades, releasing music under a host of aliases across a number of respected labels. With recent appearances on Kneaded Pains, Suara, and Tronic amongst others, Uncertain now sets his sights to Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects, delivering five bone-crushing techno tracks for the label.

Leading the release is the title track ‘Escape’, a high energy start to the EP. ‘Base’ follows with a dose of funk as warped samples and rumbling kicks twist into a rolling groove, before ‘Crush’ brings swinging drums and vocal snippets together for a rowdy cut. ‘Transmit’ marries synth stabs with heavy low-end and subtle hooks before ‘Organic’ closes the release with a direct combination of wonky pads, classic drum machines, and cleverly utilised FX.

Back around once again with another indispensable collection of new techno bangers, Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains label issue a fifth instalment of their KPAINS series.

Some of the many highlights on KPAINS5 include a classy remix of Dense & Pika’s ‘Apache’ from Oxia (whose 2006 epic ‘Domino’ became a global success), a devastating rattler from Filterheadz & Horatio, NANCY Live’s gnarly ‘CreM’ and the dark and murky garage sounds of Martin Badder’s ‘Yeh You (So Sweet)’.

Harvey McKay follows up on the release of his second studio long player, ‘Anatomy Of A Drum Machine’, with a new single. ‘On The Drum’ gets a release on Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains imprint continuing the strong ties between McKay and the label.
 
Panel beating kicks and rasping acid bubbles characterise the title track’s minimalistic charms, as McKay ramps up the intensity midway with coarse hats and a monotone vocal.  Sometimes, simplicity is everything, and on ‘On The Drum’, this is certainly the case.
 
Accompanying track ‘Mechanic’ is typically frenetic and rapid, as McKay rattles through crispy drum machine patterns and head scrambling tones for an intense and fierce techno mind melter!  
 
The seasoned producer/DJ from Glasgow has notched up an impressive catalogue of releases for labels such as UNCAGE, Perc Trax, Cocoon, Filth On Acid, Soma Quality Recordings and many more, always delivering well-polished and effective techno cuts.

Two years after their first collaboration on MindTrip, we welcome back head honcho Pfirter and Leipzig’s DJ, producer and Recorded Things‘ founder Oliver Rosemann, with the fourth installment of their shared project inspired by the Greek Alphabet.

'Delta‘ comes with four straightforward cuts moving from hypnotic, loopy cuts to intense synth workouts topped with their signature dark & raw sound.

This pressure has triggered the current generation of protostars. –

DJ/Producer, label boss & creative director Cora Novoa will debut on Berlin’s Second State with ‘Rituals’ EP. The release contains 3 dynamic original tracks from the Spanish creative, with an additional rework from regular Berghain DJ Nur Jaber.  Opening with the title track ‘Rituals’, Cora sets the pace of the EP with a pulsating kick and bass combo, uniform claps and a misting synth to give a dark atmosphere. A recurrent and frenzied vocal is introduced, throwing off all steadiness and sending the percussion into a frenzy. Deranged industrial elements and off-kilter sonics whine and ring out as the track develops, adding to the darkness Novoa has initially created. Subsequent track ‘Old Anthems’ is forefronted by a bubbling electro riff and a repetitive, chopped up sample ringing out in tandem with percussive stabs. Glitchy drums and distortions are dotted throughout, adding an eccentricity to this trance-inducing track.   ‘I’m Gonna Kill You, King Romano’ is the shortest cut on the EP, but packs just as much impact. The sound production mimics that of polyphonic choir music, with Cora using multiple samples and effects to achieve this. The voices are layered over gentle pads and modest twinkling keys to create an ethereal moment in this raucous EP. Nur Jaber’s rework brings with it a sharp, leaner kick and switch-up with the samples - now using a low-pitched and muffled male voice. Trance-like synths are teased out but restrained. Nur’s interpretation adds a lightness to the original, playing with arrangements and creating a new melody of airy wavering keys and a distorted, washed-out rave sound.
