'December' is the first single from Yumi Zouma's sophomore album, Willowbank, out October 6, 2017 on Cascine.

Limited edition Willowbank 12"s are pressed on baby blue vinyl and include sheet music for album highlight 'Carnation’ printed on premium cotton paper. Select LPs will also include hidden entry tickets to invite-only release parties in New York City and Los Angeles, featuring live and DJ sets from the band. Pre-orders will ship the week of September 18.

Just over a year after releasing their lauded debut LP, Yoncalla, Yumi Zouma return with Willowbank, the band’s sophomore album. For the making of Willowbank, Yumi Zouma's members — Charlie Ryder, Josh Burgess, Christie Simpson and Sam Perry — settled on a plan to reunite for the New Zealand summer. To complete what would become their first significant work written and recorded entirely in their home country, they rented a studio in Christchurch’s semi-demolished CBD, on one of the few remaining blocks that still characterizes the city from before it was destroyed by a series of earthquakes. “It was as though there was a brief pause in all of our lives and we finally felt like a band from New Zealand,” said Burgess. “We were on home turf and creating from a place that felt fundamentally natural.” When you know it’s there, the feeling of rootedness is undeniable on Willowbank. Being connected to their origins on the bottom of the earth allowed the band’s members to craft another essential chapter in the Yumi Zouma storybook.

Having previously collaborated back in 2015 Eskimo artists https://soundcloud.com/horixon (https://soundcloud.com/monarchysound's Andrew Armstrong and https://soundcloud.com/josephashworthmusic) and Else Born have again teamed up to deliver the beautiful, heartfelt pop lament, ‘Hello’.  With the British duo providing the perfect setting, a quiet storm of numinous pads, sparse piano chords and an almost 2-step beat, Else Born (aka Philco Fiction’s Turid Alida Solberg) has never sounded better, her vocals bursting with a subtle, fragile intensity that brings the song to vivid life.

"It's late at night. It's too late and the stars are out,” Turid explains. “You're stuck in a never-ending fight with your lover. You really don't feel like fighting, you try to get out of it and you try to stop his crying. You look for a spaceship to lift you up up up and away. And... suddenly you're under the stars - no more. Never has being caught up in a storm felt so good as the one created by Londoner WILDES,who spills her heart out, note-by-note, on her elegiac and evocative new single GHOST. The track, only her third release to be revealed, will soon form part of her debut EP on her label HOMETOWN Records. Furthermore, she’ll be hitting the road in October as she opens up for Isaac Gracie’s tour.

WILDES' influences include Cat Power and Carole King, Angel Olsen, Lorde, Feist, and Warpaint along with painters John Ruskin and Georgia O'Keeffe.

The singer-songwriter-producer’s lush, rich production provides a perfect union to what Stereogum described as “a beautiful voice and piercing lyrics that float effortlessly above”. Like all of her revealed tracks to date, GHOST follows the same high standard. Speaking directly about the single WILDES explains “it’s a song about the effects a past lover has on our future selves. Their words haunt us, and we long for their memories to remain after they’ve gone. Even the smallest moment with them can shape who we become”.

She also has her first headliner show in Amsterdam at the Paradiso on September 26th after playing at the Reeperbahn Festival on the 21st. Check out her full run of live shows below.
