This is the forst on a new series of remix eps from Knitebreed. The Hyper-On Experience remix of TNO’s Xenotransplantation is a lesson in how to do a remix, take the best bits, amplify them & add some secret sauce! Then we have 2 of KFR favourites, Paul Bradley – Nobody Else remixed by our very own Beeno, raw, powerful & unashamedly banging. Then we have another headline level remix from Boykz & Chapman. They remixed Breed’s Wislov’s My Mind In Your Eyes & made it a proper Boykz & Chapman classic. Rounding out Volume 1 we have the husband & wife duo of Sunny & Deck Hussy remixing 1 of the tracks that brought Knitebreed back to life, The Timespan That Piano Song. Never was a perfect fit for a remix so obvious!

Having enjoyed the honour of launching the label last summer with the highly acclaimed ‘Firethorn’ and ‘Pandorum’, Frankee’s doubled his dynamite with no less than four dancefloor-focussed slices of absolute bass gold.
Showcasing his creative range with depth and clarity, every element on this EP is coated in a robust sense of timeless drum & bass magic and melody: Nodding at the scene’s rich past, while pushing us as far into the future as possible, each cut will quickly find its way to the very top of your playlist.
We launch with ‘Harlequin’, a purring roller that’s devilishly simple but demonically effective. A groaning bassline and tubular subs vie for your attention as the steppy riddim drills the message home with such razor-sharp punctuation, each additional percussive element that’s added as the track develops causes major chaos.
Next-up ‘Paranormal’. An instant hair-raiser, the quintessential pitched down pianos conjure up 25 years of rave heritage in one simple reverberated strike. Then, before nostalgia kicks in too much, in fires a scorching bassline that grizzles and kicks its way through the mix with uncompromising menace. If you thought the low-end growls of Frankee’s previous release were stuff of legend, just wait until you hear this bass behemoth!
‘Saffron’ follows. Oozing low-end luxury and a swift, skippy riddim, it’s an instant groove massage laced with floating vocal textures and emotive, ethereal pads. An instant hypnotiser, it instantly flies your floor to places they didn’t even know existed. Paying respect to the expensive, aromatic delicacies of its namesake, ‘Saffron’ more than lives up to its name.
Finally we hit ‘Flintstone’. Concluding this epic tale with a wry grin, it’s the perfect balance of deep, dark rollage and subtle humour. The overwhelmingly warm sub squiggles, icy pads and textured percussive dynamics make this track a must for all record boxes!
Seldom does an EP come with such a fitting title…Not just a bold statement of dancefloor intent, each of these four cuts mark a quintessential turning point in Frankee’s promising career. From young hopeful to bona fide hot prospect, Frankee has firmed up a front row seat in D&B’s future.

It’s been a year since I was last chatting to Bernie and Terry AKA Serotonin AKA the world famous Krome & Time. The last interview covered their debut release on their infamous Tearin Vinyl label whereas for this interview we are taking a step back, well, quite a few steps back being how quickly the hardcore, rave and jungle scenes were progressing back then. From 1994 back to the glory year of 1992. And what a big change the scene went through over those two years and what an advancement of sound Bernie & Terry went through during that time too. So how did this project come about guys?

“This release was the bridge between us leaving Suburban Base and getting round to starting Tearin Vinyl” Terry aka Krome explains “We wanted to start something new. But we wanted to do it without people knowing it was us. To be a bit more experimental and to try a few new ideas”.

Bernie, also known as Mr. Time adds more background to the project “This was the time when the white label was king. That’s what people wanted. It felt more exclusive and special and we wanted to do something like that, to get in on that scene. So we pressed up a load of copies and filled up the boot of the car and just drove around the country. We use to use flyers to help us. Often these big raves would list local record shops where you could buy tickets, so we used those to build up a list of shops around the country using those as our resource and we would hit the road”.

Bernie continues “We use to choose an area and hit 2-3 record shops a day, dropping off records ‘sale or return’. Going back a week or two later to collect our money. With the Serotonin release we sold them all ourselves without distribution. We had pressed up a couple of thousand copies and sold them for about 5 or 6 quid each. It could of even been 3000 units for that releases, I can’t remember! It was so much fun as you were in total control of your money, as long as the shops paid you that is. But you think about it, 3000 records at £5 each, that’s not a bad chunk of change for a couple of kids. It kept us going”. Terry adds “We were based in East London, so we only travelled a certain distance every day. No further north than Milton Keynes but the vast majority of what we sold was either in London or down South. We went down to Brighton, Gravesend, Worthing and Portsmouth, as well as other places down there that I can’t remember right now. Our main fanbase was down south actually and I think that’s a lot to do with Sterns and that we played there a lot. We were well known down that part of the country due to that club and Mensa and the support he gave us. The south had such a vibrant scene which started in Worthing thanks to Sterns and it just spread out from there, along the coast”.

FURFRIEND is everything you never dared to sex about. From the depths of warm and tight cavities come the two fuck pets DINGO TUSH (vocals) and DAS UBERDOG (production) be it the pleasures of gay circuit life or the sweet feel of sheep in their best years - FURFRIEND covers it all and more. 
The techno duo doesn't know their origin exactly - their memories go back to dark but also jolly times at an animal shelter in antwerp where they were kept until MUM, their recently deceased fostermother picked them up, to have them join her 21 other pets. It was a hard childhood, not even knowing what type of mam- mal you were, but the toughest part was being relentlessly used by 'MUM' as a sex slave, having to fulfill all her sexual desires in order to get a bit of food. 
Then the confusion that arose when MUM was killed having sex with her oldest aquisition ‘Bob’ the german shepherd who couldn't take it anymore and ate her face - the poor guy was put down right in front of their face. Now, being freed from the clutch of MUM Furfriend look into the bright future of being popstars, knowing this is what they were born to do. 
DAS UBERDOG has been listening to MUM's records on headphones ever since he found the power switch for the stereo - it was clear back then he would become an awesome producer. DINGO TUSH, the singer of the duo, howled the melody of 'my favourite things' when MUM was watching her favourite show: ‘The sound of music‘ - they were clearly bound to become a music production team. It just had to happen eventually. 
These times are long past now, but they have left a mark on their souls which they heartbreakingly sing about in songs like ‘GECK’ ‘FIST FUCK’ or ‘SHEPHERD’ which relates to the tough life, herding sheep just after MUM had passed away. 
Originally based in Antwerp the duo has now made a move for Berlin.
“Antwerp was just not the right place for us. As much perversion as there is in belgium, it is the people of Berlin we love for the open sexual deviance present all over Berlin. We think this is the right breeding ground (haha) for our art.” says DINGO TUSH, the band's cockslinging singer. Techno just has a different meaning here - everybody does it, spit in a corner, and you’ll hit a DJ! This is perfect for us because it shows what people really want. and we are here to give it to them.” adds DAS UBERDOG, the musical genius behind the furfriend productions.
