https://soundcloud.com/cielo_us, the brainchild of DJ/Producer Reed Black, is a project that has been years in the making. It could be said that the primordial essence of this journey began in 2011. Bed-ridden for days with the flu but still with an active and creative mind, he started assembling tracks in Garageband on an iPad. After playing the results for his friends who were in school for music, they demanded he pick up Ableton, and dedicate more time and effort towards producing. 

After a few years of bedroom producing, his tracks caught the attention of Stonecutter Recording Studios in Chicago. There he upped his recording and audio engineering game, but primarily worked as an in-house producer. Working with clients to help sharpen their vision for what their sound could and should be, he had opportunities to work with artists big and small, and is credited as an assistant engineer and/or co-producer on a variety of works ranging from rap and dance to metal and pop.  

As life changed, he stepped away from production for a while to fulfill a years-long dream of moving to Colorado to be closer to the mountains he loves. But even while he was undergoing these changes - a new career path, healing his soul, and building relationships, he was always absorbing new artistic influences. In 2021 he launched Cielo, the organic house artist, and released his debut EP, Sweet Rain on Be Adult Music in 2022. This freshman outing hit Number 5 in organic house releases, and the title track broke the Hype Organic House top 10.

He then went on to found the Denver house producers' collective, podcast, and promotion entity https://soundcloud.com/skyterrace. Sky Terrace maintains very close ties and a familial bond with our Primordial Grooves Collective.  Since the founding of Sky Terrace, he's released a flurry of remixes, singles and collaborations. His follow-up EP will be out later this year, which he would describe as a marked step towards a dancier, funkier sound. Deep in his soul he is a man of the groove and seeks to anchor his melodic-driven sound in a groove that's rooted in funk.

Here on the Primordial Podcast, he largely steps away from this typical-upbeat organic house style in favor of slowing it down and bringing it back to his roots with a global mid-tempo suite laced with funk, and drenched in psychedelia.  A masterful, powerful journey of the soul for all of us to experience, as experiencing music truly is part of the consummate human experience!
