There are some powerful, deeply submerged kicks to be enjoyed on 'Activation', but they're not just deployed as standard. On 'Concentrate' they might be more prominent, but still there's a sense of confident restraint in which Moeller can create captivating energy and a full-frequency experience without resorting to obvious tactics. For those who favour something a little more stimulating and subtle from their techno experience, this EP has everything you need."

We have already read that his music is dark and cold. It is also beautiful and subtle.

Over the years, the French producer Clarence Rise has developed a strong musical identity, always gaining in intensity and singularity, where incisive techno mixes with the icy atmospheres of coldwave. Some people characterize his work as cinematic electronics or “Cold Techno”, with a strong emphasis on complex rhythms, dark sound design and contemplative melancholy.

Author of several releases on different labels (Indefinite Pitch, Crescent London, Khoros, Chez KitoKat, Bella Ursa, Spazio Magnetico...) and different media, this DJ and live artist makes his shows real journeys, as dynamic as introspective.

Myk Derill is back on Knotweed.

His E.P. opens with 'Compulsive', a slow minimal dub anthem like only Myk can deliver, full of positive vibes. Cut in 45 rpm for maximum audio damage. 

'Sacrifice' is a much tougher big room affair, bringing sinister synths, dark voices and rolling snares on top of a sub bass heavy drum kick. 

In 'Group Cohesion', Myk drops an acid line, dripping and tingling down your spine like there is no tomorrow. One of these tracks where less is more.

Myk Derill returns to Knotweed after last year's Cold Thoughts release. Like his previous work for the French label, RI-TU-AL is a varied affair. It starts off with the glassy-eyed minimalism of "Compulsive", before changing direction for "Sacrifice". A slamming, peak-time affair, it sees Derill deploy old school snare rolls, firing hi hats and grinding bass to devastating effect. The addition of a repetitive vocal sample only adds to the drama. Shifting gears again, he drops "Group Cohesion"; like vintage 7th City material it's a classy piece of minimal techno, as lone bleeps are supported by angular drums and a buzzing acid line.
