A lotus flower is born in water, grows in water and rises out of water to stand above it unsoiled ~ Buddha (563 - 483 BC)

After spending the first part of 2011 touring in the USA and Australia Mumbai Science bundled their newfound inspiration to bring you their newest EP on Lektroluv Records. The Lotus EP consists of two original tracks - ‘Lotus’ and ‘Panas’ -, serving as a perfect fix for your summer. While Lotus strikes with a sleazy - yet uplifting - bassline, Panas shines with its enchanting melodic hook. Still, both tracks share the typical Mumbai Science electro synths and techno feel. Think rolling drums, trippy melodies and a whole lotta sunshine!

Mumbai Science is mostly known for their club hits ‘Ancova’ and ‘Gold’, which are still widely supported by artists around the globe (from 2 many dj’s, Crookers and Erol Alkan to Boys Noize, Tiga and beyond). Recently, Mumbai Science finished remixes for Mixhell (Boys Noize Records) and Goose (!K7 Records). Now, they present their fourth EP on Lektroluv Records: Lotus EP.

Following on from the well received various artists series ‘From the Lab to the Club’, MindTrip 09 sees the return of label boss, Pfirter, with 4 brand new tracks, which encapsulate MindTrip’s musical philosophy perfectly.
The sonic soundscape of ‘Otras Dimensiones’ opens proceedings, layering dark and ambient textures. Tension builds throughout the track and really sets the mood for this record.
Anticipation is finally rewarded by the opening bars of ‘Message 1’. The apparently laid back, dark bassline gives rise to high frequency colour which serves to make this track a building cauldron of devilry, which is unrelenting in its pursuit of evil. This is Pfirter at his brilliant best and demonstrates his inimitable style flawlessly.
The flip side of the EP picks up where the A side left off and opens with ‘Futoro Que No’. The minimal, dancefloor sounds of this eerie track are perfect for the dankest and grimiest of settings.
The final track, ‘Casus Belli’ is a driving statement of refusal to compromise. A powerful, dancefloor techno track whose rich analogue sounds blend together deep, fascinating layers and textures, hypnotising the listener as it ebbs and flows.

ZTT pressed up 40,000 copies of this 12" EP only to Burn the whole lot in Germany after an Ulta Magnetic MC  sample (pick em up ) couldnt get clearance. We were told the Band were not speaking and it could not get sample clearance no matter what the cost ! This EP only came out on promo , so about 500 copies out there... We were to have 3 more releases on ZTT but our trust was diminishing.... surely you wouldnt go ahead with manufacture unless sample clearance was sucessful? The band was to pay a high price for this mistake, both finanically and creatively. The relationship between the Band and record company was over, it was just a case of delivering what we owed and finding a new home for our music. This was going to prove harder than we imagined, with the rave scene dwindling  and the band burnt out from gigging non stop we were about to enter what we refere to as "the dark years"....

the last time i recorded a drum & bass set it was on a cassette tape over 10 years ago. in 2012 i was finally able to return to my original love, dive into my old vinyl, and play some jungle: b2b with eats everything at bestival, b2b with totally enormous extinct dinosaurs at secret garden party, and as a guest of bachelors of science at their monthly at monarch in sf. for those of you who were not able to catch one of these rare pilgrimages back to my roots, i have recorded a special set just for you featuring a handful of my all time favorite records. happy new year and i hope you enjoy!
