Following cascading shimmer-synths and throbbing bass in a winking disco intro, she sings “Late night, it’s alright – don’t matter the time or place.” The raving refrains of “Rendezvous” invite listeners into an unforgettable twilight party where anything goes - a simultaneously in-your-head and in-your-face expression of life affirmation.

The song – true to its title – imagines a one-night stand: a charmingly sincere back-and-forth between Lady Lark and Minnesota heavyweight Har Mar Superstar, who lends guest vocals. Looking deeper, however, Lady Lark’s true MO is one that seems antithetical to a heavy-hearted scene; it’s a lighthearted ditty that invites listeners to do what makes them happy. If you want love for one night, go for it. If you want to dance, go for it. If you want to cut loose, for the love of God, go for it.

The lead single from Lady Lark’s glammy forthcoming album Permission, Rendezvous is just a sample of what the Minneapolis performer is preparing to unleash. "'Drain' spouted directly from my feelings of frustration and almost claustrophobia of a repetitive and monotonous routine that I was stuck in. For me these feelings came from a typical 9-5 call centre job where I spent the majority of time dreaming of my actual passion. I think we’ve all been in those situations or some even are still in them at present minute, so I always saw Drain (musically and sensually) as a huge release of pent-up emotion that can relate to a huge portion of our society."
