Hi, this is Kiana from gyrofield. 
As I slowly transition from life as a student abroad in the UK to working as a full time musician, DJ & content creator, I found myself wanting more engagement & exchange of information with listeners online and offline. Pumping (Patreon Announcement)

Big Oof is one of the very few times i named a track in the very early stages of production. I sat down one evening messing around with some white noise and came up with that first drum pattern. My initial, honest reaction was to maniacally laugh and call the project file "big oof.flp" and that's what stuck. I made the rest of the song very quickly after that, as it was a good premise for an entire track already
It's an outlier in a discography full of outliers. It's definitely the shortest track i can remember making and it's also the most minimal. I like odd Drum Patterns and my previous experience with breakbeats fit into the picture quite well too, which made it a very easy track to work on. I remember finishing it and thinking "wow that's pretty good" and cockily submitted it for airplay at Vision Radio. They ended up actually playing it, which was a highlight of this year for me. The laugh at the end of this track is sampled from Dave Columbo on that radio show and is just how I heard that track ending in my head since that happened, so i put it in the actual final version too. It fits quite well with the absurdity and the humour of the track so it seemed like a good match in that way too.

I try to at least do one release/year as i am very slow with actually finishing stuff. My next release is well in the works. It looks like it will be an album and i am excited to show you guys what i've been up to. It's going to be a departure in some ways of what i've been doing with the project so far while also fleshing out some aspects i've been awkwardly trying to establish as part of the project's identity.

Either way, THIS tune is a set tool type of deal i've done for gigs i had recently. Hope you enjoy it.

Stylistically it's quite similar to my track "11 Karma", in that it combines all of my influences into one piece.

Abject Permanence is a lot simpler in structure, but it's total excess in every way i could push it. I think of it as a Breakcore track, but that's for you to decide.
