Walking is capturing images, feelings that are composed, transformed, ruminated in sweet thoughts. In the continuous embrace of the journey, this source of physical satiety offers a growing richness to the spirit. The journey anchors our senses in this reality.

Ce projet se compose d'un prélude, d'une pièce principale, de cet interlude suivi de son postlude.

The Pièces froides are two sets of piano pieces composed in March 1897 by Erik Satie. Unpublished until 1912 when Ravel played them publicly, they marked Satie's break from the mystical-religious music of his Rosicrucian and Gymnopodies period (1891–95), and were a harbinger of his humoristic piano suites of the 1910s. 

The title Pièces froides, translated as Cold Rooms or Cold Cuts, is a punning allusion to the dire poverty Satie experienced during his last years living in Montmartre. In July 1896, he had been forced to move into an unheated ground floor closet (he called it a "cupboard”. The space was so small that Satie's camp bed all but blocked the door shut, and on frigid nights he kept warm by sleeping fully dressed with the rest of his clothing piled on top of him.

I needed some calming down after a stressful day. I just sat today and recorded this in 2 hours. While playing, I remembered Barry, the little hero of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", playing the glockenspiel... I invite You and Your inner child on a journey between the stars.

Humanity as a child of the Universe. First, it discover the "music" of the Universe within itself, it try to "play" it as best as it can, not being aware of the existence of the universe. Then it begins to "hear", notice the music of the Cosmos, get to know it. It is doing it better and better, but still, like a child, it "plays" clumsily, sometimes too loudly, sometimes harmoniously. Will it harmonize with it or will it disappear?

I hope you like this track at least a little bit. I made it thanks to four, free,  wonderful Fracture Sounds @fracture-sounds instruments from the Blueprint series: Gentle Brass, Gentle Strings, Textural Violin and main hero - Greenhead Chimes.

I’m trying something new. 2025 marks the year where I finally wrap up my courses with Berklee College of Music, preceded by stints at Sydney Conservatorium of Music and UCLA. I’ve been somewhat protective of my compositions over the last 10 years or so, but I’m too old for that shit. So I’ve challenged myself to write, record, mix and master one track per week and toss it on social. No matter the state of being.
