'Oh man, I’ve got good news all around! First of all, even if there wasn’t anything to celebrate, this mix from Heathered Pearls is absolutely superb! Almost two hours in length it navigates many favorite genres and artists represented by the Michigan based label, Ghostly International. Just look at this amazing tracklist! In 2009, Ghostly celebrated its 10 year anniversary as a label, with many shows across the globe. This year, the label is commemorating a decade of performances at Decibel Festival. The 10th Ghostly showcase at Decibel will feature live performances from Dauwd, Beacon, Lusine and Shigeto (Friday, September 27th at the Crocodile) and you know that I’ll be there all night!

Meanwhile, Jakub Alexander (that’s Heathered Pearls), a curator of the ISO50 blog and founder of Moodgadget Records, has just released a digital remix album, titled Loyal Reworks, featuring many great artists, including Sun Glitters, loscil, Markus Guentner and Lawrence. From the name to the sound, it seems singer/producer Jahan Lennon may fancy  himself as a bit of a revivalist- which is great news for everyone! Following up his psych rock  collab with Diplo for "About That Life",  Jahan Lennon gives us a brand new 3 song EP of carefree baggy / madchester influenced cuts. Along with its staple drumloop "Can't Ruin My Fun" produces vocal melodies u haven't heard since the "90s". The second track "Tell Me", sees Jahan digging up some old drum machines and a casio to create the soundtrack to a forgotten Steve Guttenberg romantic comedy. Diplo describes "Tell Me" as the "Indian Ace Of Bass" but we also  hear a little MJ  influence. The final track "Always" , is psychedelic folk pop at its best, co-written and produced by brother Shoaib Ali and childhood best friend Junior Fourth "after an intense DMT session". Clocks slowly melt around you while you listen to Jahan and your life is slowed down to half time. With these songs Jahan Lennon aims to reach the common ground between loop based baggy beats from bands like Happy Mondays, Primal Scream and a parallel  scene known as "The Asian Underground" / "UK Massive" with a vocal style and delivery that is uniquely Jahan.

FADER Mix: Evenings

This is the final instalment of the decade mixes. But this time it's a little bit different.

This is the decade that turned us into what we are now. This mix is effectively our condensed dance music bible (believe it or not, there are lots of tunes we couldn't fit in). The mix is done in the same style in which we remember our clubbing experiences. Most notably, The Bang Gang parties every Friday night in Sydney. Those guys were a HUGE part of why we became DJ's in the first place. This mix will, for better or worse, dig up a few dance-floor 'moments' for anyone who took part in the madness. 

So many of these songs are classics to us, and probably are to many others too. It's hard to hear these songs without cracking a smile and remembering a great time of irresponsibility. 

You won't find too many mixtapes in this style anymore. And certainly not from us. But we had to show what this decade was all about to us, and how it brought us to what we do today.  

We're dedicating this mix to our belated friend and mentor, Ajax. He's had more influence on this final chapter than anyone will ever know.

Thanks to everyone who got behind these mixes. It's been a long ride.
