Solid Steel (28th February) Moresounds is our guest in Hour 1 this week, with a mix across the board opening with Canadian Library music, Prince Jammy and Madvillain, before delving into some of his own lost hip hop beats from yesteryear and even a track from a psych/rock band that he used to play with. Then it's onto some inspirations and music from friends including Om Unit with his excellent update of the classic Shadow Boxing, H-SIK, Fanu and the Moresounds remix of Machinedrum, finishing with a junglist hook and a respectful greeting to King Tubby."

Introducing their first release on Dispatch, we welcome the trio Kolectiv, Dexta & Mauoq to our Dispatch LTD imprint for “The Roots EP”; presenting a selection of no-nonsense, sub-pulsated tracks in a deftly constructed package.

Comprised of four dark & brooding escapades into the abyss, built largely upon a stripped-back framework, superior levels of space allow for imagination to wonder in the lower frequencies. With each track confidently shying away from the common ‘rules’ of arrangement, we’re constantly kept guessing with each passing corner and without prompts, whether it’s a shuffle into half-time tempo at interludes, or stomping and lashing back in suddenly from an often sparse or cinematic breakdowns.

A finely tuned EP from a group of promising producers, expect to hear more from these guys on Dispatch again soon. This release is also lovingly dedicated by the crew and ourselves at the label to Emre Serter, father of one of Kolectiv’s members that sadly passed away recently. Emre, this one’s for you.

I was sent a few EP's from Terra Null Recordings over the past six months, and the label manager expressed his interest in the sounds that Mauoq and I had been producing. Not too much later and he asked us if we'd like to remix one of the tracks from the Eppileptech EP, which, we both agreed, sat down and created our take on the track. In my opinion, it captures the vibes we'd been working with over 2013, and also has introduced some new styles and techniques that we'd both been using this year. Hope you enjoy!
