I'm pleased to announce THE LIQUID AMBER EP. This single/EP serves as the opening salvo in what I hope is a long string of music, by myself and others, on my new imprint: LIQUID AMBER. There's two new songs, "Ghost Town" and "Mob," and a nifty remix of "Six Days" by Machinedrum.

"Ghost Town" is an ambitious ride through many of the micro-genres within the Future Bass umbrella that have inspired me recently, while "Mob" is an intentionally stripped-down, Cali-certified head-nodder. Both songs were written, programmed, and mixed by myself, and they represent the forward steps I feel I've taken as an engineer. The "Six Days" remix was something I asked Machinedrum to knock out as a tour weapon, and he crushed it (naturally), so I felt it deserved a proper release.

I'm excited about this music and the new imprint, and I really appreciate everyone's time and consideration.

Following their impressive receptions at EDC, Hard Fest and most recently Palm Springs’ poolside festival Splash House, LA’s Bixel Boys are clearly on their way to becoming the next household name for underground bass-heavy house music. From their more tropical “Love Like This” to the heavier club riser “Black December”, the duo’s production diversity and unique voice stand far above the rest in their class. The original’s moderate pace fits perfectly in a daytime lounge or rooftop set, but the recognizable Bixel twist brings it to a whole new level. The level we crave for at the club and festival main stage. Sidechained chords, industrial samples, and crushing 4-to-the-floor percussion go hand in hand with Nicole’s vocals. A true remix, the Boys' edit doesn’t diverge far from Golden Features’ structural intention and tonal inflection; it maintains the original's darkness and gait while successfully creating a festival-ready leviathan. Golden Features - Tell Me Ft. Nicole Millar (Bixel Boys Remix)

"The Austin, TX, selector is an accomplished producer of cosmic tone poems and club anthems from the abyss; many claim his now-classic Throwback 12” on Palms Out Sounds saved their lives–or at least taught them a lesson in modern retrofitting. A chemistry of pre-hispanic shaman cries, YouTube videos of American microcosms, and 90s UK rave flyers make up his aesthetic, one which is not often associated with the Lone Star State. On Hymn, his debut EP for Mixpak, his methods havenʼt changed, but rather have become more refined.

The appropriately titled intro, “Open Up,” exposes a world of chaos where feral Midi demon dogs are unavoidable and an eerie timbale melody hums in the distance. Then comes “Darq”: a sonic no-manʼs land where only the echoing shrieks of those foolish enough to enter can escape its sub-bass, sounding as if, heaven forbid, Goth Kids fell head over heels in love with Miami Bass. The next obstacle on the gauntlet, “Heartbruk,” is a riddim so infested with duppies that any sane Dancehall artist would leave it the fuck alone, yet it would make the perfect soundtrack for a movie based on an Anthony Winkler novel. The journey ends, luckily, with the title track, maybe the most uplifting moment in this producerʼs career, which gives hope of survival by means of triumphant brass and Coupe Decale snares." - Dave Quam

"UK Allstars (Congo Natty meetys Benny Page - Radio Edit)" featuring Tenor Fly, Top Cat, General Levy, Tippa Irie, Sweetie Irie and Daddy Freddy, taken from the album "Jungle Revolution", to be released on Big Dada Recordings, 1 July 2013. 

Congo Natty aka Rebel MC has a career dating back to his early hit with Double Trouble, "Street Tuff," but is probably most respected as one of the pioneers of Jungle - perhaps the first uniquely UK-born bass music. 

"Jungle Revolution" features the whole of the extended Congo Natty family and was mixed with Adrian Sherwood. Clearly showing this Rasta's belief that Jungle is a re-boot of roots reggae for a new century, the record is full of blood and fire, the sternum-buzz of sub-bass, rapid fire drum breaks, sweet hooks, righteous anger and professions of religious fervour. It’s the kind of passionate, committed, raw and spiritual, beautiful record that doesn’t come along every day.  

To celebrate this release, we are streaming the track "UK Allstars," which features a who's who of British soundsystem culture. This is the first time ever that this line up have all appeared on one track together and so also marks a historic coming together of a scene which lies at the roots of so much of what we now take for granted in UK music, from dubstep to grime to drum & bass and beyond.
