Memories aren’t about what happened, memories are about the way you feel. The feelings at that time, in that place, with those people, that’s what makes the facts of what happened worth remembering. 

The feelings are why people head to the dancefloor, and it’s why they should all listen to Michael Beggs new EP, Way You Feel.

For this new three-tracker, the Victoria, BC-based artist headed a bit south towards Seattle, Washington to release on the Beatport-chart-topping label, Feral One Records. Like with the rest of the Feral One Catalog, Way You Feel abandons genre-specificity in search of conceptual glory.

And the concept for this EP is, quite simply, the feels.

The title track harkens back to old-school dancefloor feels. The actual age of the school depends on the listener, but no matter what it’s a welcome blast from the past. The pitched-up vocal sample could go back to the early-aughts hip-hop and the thriving disco beat could go further back still to the time when club culture was born.

“Watch It” follows things up by honoring the feels of the present with an ever-so-funky tech-house groove. The bassline applies an effortless feeling of bounce that will get the feet moving while high-frequency stabs get the hands up high.

Ending the EP with a change of pace, the final track, “Mad Hatter,” takes a different approach to the feels. Instead of directing the dancefloor, this bass house offering is minimal in its approach. It’s an unwritten law of dance music that the more minimal the track, the more outrageous and exuberant the dance moves because you’re making the feels yourself.

No doubt wherever anyone hears this EP the facts of what happened will remain solid in their memory forever. All because of the ways these tracks make you feel.

Elemental Vol. 1 moves through earth, air, fire, and water not as metaphors but as emotional states. The songs drift like weather systems, mixing tenderness with atmosphere - acoustic guitars and field-warm vocals meeting the pulse of understated techno rhythms. The production is deliberately porous: wood and wire breathing alongside soft synths and spectral drum-machine traces. It's an "acoustic techno" album in the sense that rhythm and resonance share the same dirt. The songs carry the physical textures of wind in rafters, gravel underfoot, or rain on a roof, yet they shimmer with digital light. This meeting of folk intimacy and electronic timbres gives the album its peculiar gravity - part back-porch confession, part after-hours heartbeat.

Lyrically, Elemental Vol. 1 abandons conventional pop architecture. Instead of verse–chorus–bridge repetition, each piece unfolds as a field poem - free-form, continuous, and responsive to its own inner weather. The writing treats structure as tide rather than grid: refrains return when they need to, not when they're told to. This openness lets the language breathe in sync with the natural imagery that drives it - storms, light, stone, silence - and invites listeners to inhabit the songs as evolving spaces rather than predictable forms. Across the various mixes of its six song poems - We Learn the Sky, Don't Sightsee This Heart, Be a Storm in Me, Til the Heat Is Gone, You Happen Like Weather, and Wild Gifts - the album traces the cycles of intimacy and impermanence, finding in their motion the same quiet power that turns seasons, wheels, and hearts.
