Norman Foreman is taking over the New Zealand Drum & Bass scene, a multi-genre music label purely devoted to NZ artists and DJ’s. Norman Foreman has involved Kiwis nationwide, allowing artists of all stature a platform to showcase their work. Their next release comes from Donny, hot off his latest release, "How Many Times" Norm’s second most popular track, following up strong, is Kingston Dub, the first track on Donny’s two-track EP, paired with the second track Electromotive; this EP is not one to miss.

His latest EP 'Inception' shows his ability to produce high quality and unique music, whether it be his fast overdriven rollers or his grotty jump up.

Our 2nd EP comes in from Gloucesters rising star, Willow. A producers producer so to say, WIllow's taken his time to hone his sound and master the craft, and it's not gone unnoticed with tunes like Badman Sound and the Wonky Song bootleg doing the rounds on soundcloud. We're feeling blessed to be able to present his first label release, and considering just how good these tracks are, it's a miracle they're out for free.

Title track Phantom is an absolute head turner. An eerie yet epic build up which pays off with an awesome synth and subsequent plunge, there's undeniable sci-fi/horror vibes to this track and we're all here for it. Ever evolving, the 2nd drops and switches on this one are bound to keep you on your toes. DJ's, trust us: you need this one. 

Nasty Bass again draws on the same futuristic sounds in its build up, but this time punchy drums are met with a hard and dark synth. Again, WIllow's signature seems to be finding the perfect switches to leave you satisfied on repeat listenings time and time again.

WILLOW - PHANTOM [Free Download]

Kartoons has always been a label to support talent, no matter how long the producer has been in the game and this can certainly be said for the ‘Headpiece’ EP by DJ Gaw. A true unrestricted artist that certainly ticks all of Nicky Blackmarket’s boxes when it comes to his labels criteria. Vibes from the past, vibes for the future.

Gaw brings along Bruk for some back to back production duties on ‘Badman Selecta’ where a bunch of dreamy pads are chucked in momentarily before all kinds of wonky, off key business kicks off. ‘Fadeaway’ takes a ton of feelings from the label's heritage with breakbeats and sub rolls straight out of ‘96. What you have here is nothing short of a love letter to Hysteria and One Nation.

EP title track ‘Headpiece’ keeps that similar vibe running, taking inspiration from even further back. It’s got a nice pre jump up jungle vibe going on so if you experienced Jungle Mania in ‘94, just close your eyes and flick the switch.

‘Here We Go’ locks off the EP, bringing the mood up to date and adding in an element of darkside danger. It’s a ruthless chunk of music that guarantees to switch up the dance in seconds.

If this EP is anything to go by, expect much more from Gaw in 2020.
